Re: FOD Location
JAMES MASAL
In my opinion (and as founder of QBA if that means anything) I think Dave should have another shot at the FOD. He is willing, he now has valuable host experience and he has the enthusiasm

and attitude to attract a crowd. There were 4 Q's headed his way (+his own) until the weather hammered everybody. If Dave will try a different weather window and if foliage is in the offing
Richard K could plan for 2015 or do an extra one at his location anytime. God knows that wouldn't be a new thang as extras have been successfully done at Livermore, IA and east of STL. Putting an FOD together is not as easy as falling off a log nor as hard as digging a ditch to China. Our hosts have a pivotal role in binding us together oh so many years since
QAC folded its tent. Thanks to all'yall.

This location is a little closer to the mid-west, but what is the proper etiquette here!? IMHO I say that we have more than one gathering if possible. This is quite common among other associations.
BTW - Dave has pointed out that the WX is typically more stable in late September for north central Mass. That's also about the time the trees are in full array.

The location wasn't the problem (judging from the aborts) but the weather WAS. The west coast boys stepped up for several successful years at Livermore but until Dugas no one on the eastern shores has raised their hand to host
an east coast event. Thanks Dave. Anybody whining about it can raise their hand too.

I think the original FOD was conceptually centrally located for maximum availability. Bad news at OGD hostile airport manager and the TSA has moved in impacting access and events. Regards, Charlie Johnson Dragonfly Mk-II / Corvair On Sep 4, 2013, at 6:36 AM, "Paul S" <wypaul2001@...> wrote: |
