QAC learned early on that people were not buying because they didn’t want to layout the whole sum (too much $$). They split their kits up into Sub-kits 1A, 1B, 2, 3, each with an acceptable price. Kind of like buying on the installment plan. This way, they could get a potential builder to bite, even if it was just one sub-kit, and if they never went anywhere with the building process QAC still had some cash. So the process was, as soon as you bought any part of the kit, QAC issued a serial number. My guess is that 1/3-1/2, or maybe more, of the kits never shipped a complete version of the parts.

Wow! That number is simply amazing for an Experimental homebuilt of the time. And of course that is not the total. Somewhere must a warehouse full of new kits!!
