It may be a week or two before the transfer happens. At this time, I would recommend you just keep on using the original group.

Just click on "messages" on the left side of the panel, then click on a message and look at the bottom of the page for "reply", then hit that and reply....or you can just reply via e-mail or send an e-mail to Q-LIST@groups.io

Full Set of Newsletters

Jerry Marstall <jnmarstall@...>

Fellow Q-builders,

Since I don’t intend to build another Q, I am looking to give to an ACTIVE builder four big binders containing all of the newsletters from Day 1 (I think).  I stress active because I would like them to go to someone who is in the early stages of a build and is committed to seeing it through to completion.

As those of us who have built a Q know, the newsletters, thanks to the foresight, wisdom and tireless dedication of Jim Masal and subsequent editors, allowed us to learn from other builders’ experience and mistakes.  Without the newsletters, I doubt there would be as many completed Q’s as there are.  I know personally, that there are several Save Your Bacon tips.

If interested (first one wins), contact me at jnmarstall@....  All I ask is to be reimbursed for shipping.

Happy Q-driver

Subject: [Q-LIST] Announcing the new Q-List

All,

As you may know Yahoo! Groups and the existing Q-list will be going away very soon. Current Q-list moderator Paul Fisher and I had a conference and decided that https://groups.io/  is the way of our future.  You don’t have to follow us, but this is what we are setting up.  We looked at Google Groups, but they do not transfer photos, files, or conversations, so all history would be lost.  Also, it looks like that someone would have to cut and paste email addresses to move all the members. Please look at some of the advantages that Groups.io has over Yahoo: https://groups.io/static/transfer.  Thank you everyone for your input.

Groups.io seems to have all the bases covered. (The owner came from Yahoo). We have grabbed the Q-List name and we have done a couple of test messages and all seems well. You will not have to create a new ID, like Yahoo required.

Groups.io is requiring that we purchase a Premium, one year membership for $110, if we want them to handle all the transfer legwork. I paid that today and will accept small donations to offset, but it’s not necessary.  More about that in a future email.

After our first year, as long as our stored content is less than 1 GB, the group will be free.  Right now, on Yahoo, we have about 650 MB of content, so at the end of the year we should be easily eligible to be free. I do intend to clean up some of the content.

Please don’t do anything right now, it will take a week or two for the transfer to happen. Over the next couple of days I will initiate the transfer process.  We promise to keep you informed and how to opt out if you choose.

Thanks.

Success.

The secret was to log in with my laptop.  Cell phone (iPhone) did not offer the needed option.

I hope this shortens the process for the next guys.

Look on the left side of the screen under accounts.

Identity
Preferences
etc..

Choose identity and then choose to edit the choices to change your data

...but there's no reason to delete this group.
Its primary function will continue - until Yahoo decides otherwise.

Yahoo really missed the boat.
I monitor or otherwise participate in nearly 140 yahoo groups, all of which are in a state of panic, most of which are opting to pay $110 to transfer their stuff to Groups.io. If Yahoo would have told us to pay up or be deleted, they could have made bank even if they lost 25% of the groups in the process. But instead, that same money that they could have scored is going to Groups.io

Are you 100% sure? The way I understand it is
that the basic message list remains functional,

that, nothing would change for me as a message
list user. Please be 100% sure before making these changes.
