I flew into Jean a couple of years ago and I think it would be ideal. There
are nice places to stay right next to the field. We could do fly-by's and
maybe some kind of landing contest. The EZ group used to meet there and do
speed tests over the runway.
I'm liking it.

Brad------------ I have a complete Q-200 kit that has never been
started. It has all that's needed to build except the engine ,epoxi and
wheels. I am located in Geraldton Ontario Canada. I want 8,000
Canadian. This kit was worth 13,000 US in 1984. It comes with the carbon
fiber spars. I was gonna run a 2.5 turbocharged Subaru, but I have way
to may other project on the go. With the cost of the Subaru I figure I
could have a finished 200mph airplane for less than 20,000 Canadian. If
you're intersted give me a buzz. If you are not intersted and are
looking at a partially built aircraft, be very carefull. You never know
what you are getting. I have built and am flying a Super Quickie and a
Turbocharges Subaru Dragonlfy. Too may toys and no time.------------

Ron,

There's a place in Redwood City that ceramic coats exhaust pipes
with
a process called Jet Hot. They wire clean the inside and outside
and
coat both sides. They mainly do racing headers but will do
airplanes.
My 4:1 cost $75.00 for the full monty. I've done mine twice. It
works very well.

Colors are white, black and aluminum.

Re: Exhaust System Reduex

Jim Patillo

Neil,

My 4:1 is steel. I did some welding on it and had the whole thing
recoated black this time. The coatings hold up well with no rust.

Jim P.

P.S. Ron I will try to find the supplier but have to go to my hangar
to get the address. Its between Redwood City and San Carlos at the
101 Freeway.

Re: Exhaust System.

Dave <dave@...>

Hi Greg,

Did you use the 1300 degree or the 2400 degree stuff?

Do you recall what you paid for them to do yours? (Q2 or Q200)?

Thanks,

Dave Richardson

Ron,

There's a place in Redwood City that ceramic coats exhaust pipes with
a process called Jet Hot. They wire clean the inside and outside and
coat both sides. They mainly do racing headers but will do airplanes.
My 4:1 cost $75.00 for the full monty. I've done mine twice. It
works very well.

Colors are white, black and aluminum.

Exhaust System/Revmaster

ALCON - This sure sounds like something I need for my hot running turbo
Revmaster! Where can you have this ceramic coating done? Muffler shops,
dealerships???

Speaking of warm Revmasters: I've almost got 762CP back in the air pending
resolution of engine idle problems, i.e. the engine idles perfectly @ 750
RPM, set by idle arm & control linkage. Upon reinstalling the engine
cowling and allowing the engine to warm up for a few minutes the RPM will
automatically increase to an average of 1450 RPM and remain until shutdown
and cooling. Makes for a real hot final! Sure would like to make it to the
Spring Fling. Is anyone familiar with this scenario? Comments &
suggestions please. Thanks, Joe Tygart Turbo-Q N762CP VA.

Hi All,

Only three weeks remaining to the second annual Tandem-Wing Spring-
Fling,
being held in sunny southern Illinois.

As a reminder, we will be featuring the mechanical wizardry of
Professor
Charley Rodriguez as he explains the inner workings of the Slick
Magnetos
and the MA#-SPA carburetors.

For my contribution. I will be displaying my new unpainted wheel
pants and
will cover the new, radical method of filling pinholes and
scratches with
pure epoxy. I will also have the engine cowling off and will
explain how
why I don't need an oil cooler with a hopped up engine.

If there are enough that are into Minden, NV sometime after Livermore I will
try and gather some information, for starters here is the airport info.
http://www.fltplan.com/AirportInformation/KMEV.htm There would be plenty
of parking right by my hangar A6. I have never put together something like
this and can help all I can. I work out of town and am home at South Lake
Tahoe each weekend. At least we would have shelter and not have to get a
tent.

I agree. I took it in the shorts but felt that it needed to be done.

Usually the FBO comes up with a hangar for us, and there are no costs
involved.
This year was a little different, as there were just no hangars available.
No
fault of the FBO, it was just that the airport is under construction...
destruction if you prefer.

Next year SHOULD be business as usual, with no out of pocket expenses, as
we
will probably continue to use Don Laughlin's hangar or the FBO hangar. But
I did
like the feel of the tent.. the acoustics were awesome; everyone could
hear well
and although the wind did get to be problematic, earlier in the day the
nice
cool breeze was refreshing, way better than a stuffy, hot hangar.

We didn't know for sure if we'd have a hangar this year or not, until the
very
last minute, and I just couldn't see all of us standing outside in the sun
all
day long. To me, the tent was just the right thing to do. Other options
included
just canceling and I certainly didn't want to do that.

Why don't we consider this after Livermore? Maybe rather than replacing
Laughlin, we can add it to the list of annual gatherings? It's how
Livermore
started.

Thanks!

Pat
