You are a man of (too) few words.
I still do not understand your fuel system or your 'problem'.
* 1. I have a fuel cap in the header tank.
* 2. There is a 2" PVC pipe starting 2.5" below the cap that goes down
and back to the main tank.
* 3. There is a tank vent at the rear of the header tank that goes
down and forward.
* 4. Until the main tank is filled, the last 2.5" of header tank can
not be filled.
* 5. I just found a solution for the potential of trapping fuel in the
vent - drill a very small hole at the back of where the vent turns forward.

New Q1 project

John Bolding <JNBOLDING1@...>

I am considering starting a Q1 project in the next year or so (2 other
projects to finish up first) and wish to visit with someone for awhile
who has been built one. This will be my 5th homebuilt (RV3, Glasair,
701 and Legal Eagle)so fabing the metal parts that came in the kit is
not a problem but there are undoubtly some forks in the road and Yogi
says you gotta take it. Would prefer to talk to someone who has taken
them already. If all the necessary info is in the back issues I'll get
them as well. Am thinking about 2 cyl VW or Corvair (Building one each
for the Legal Eagle) or maybe even the 4a084 if I can shed some #s.
THANKS John Bolding
off list is fine if you prefer

Re: Fuel filler problem and brake seals.

Peter Harris <peterjfharris@...>

Larry that does not work either. That is a fix that was put in to keep the vent open in case a bug gets in the opening. It actually reduces the ram pressure by bleeding air . It just alters the airspeed at which ram pressure = weight of fuel caught in the vent. I had that mod when the Revmaster was almost stopped by fuel in the vent.
A short up facing vent is self clearing.

Re: Revmaster stripped spark plug

Hi Dave,

Yes, this is very common. I used the Heli-Coil brand (IIRC) on the top
plugs. I suspect doing the button plugs is the same but I have no
experience with them.

I recently found some paper templates of some CS parts. I also
disected a broken wing and dug out other parts that I couldn't find.
I've drawn these parts in Auto cad and would like to know if anyone
could check my measurements with their parts to see if they are correct
before I begin to cut them.

Thanks in advance,

Larry, I think that you wanted some funds for the parts is why you didn’t
get any response. I was about to order some 0-200 gaskets, so if your give
away price is somewhere around 50% of retail I would get them from you, I
will be there for the Friday dinner if South West is on time.

WOW!

I can't believe there was no response to my "Items to Sell" Either it did
not get to the net
or there is no interest! Anyway just in case it was missed I will resend the
ads.

Larry

I am going to be coming to the "Spring Fling" but I will be driving as,
unfortunately, my
Corvair powered Q is not yet done.

I have a few aviation items that I wish to sell and can bring them along if
someone has any
interest. This is a list of the items.

Continental O-200A engine. This engine ran fine and had lots of power but I
had low oil
pressure and I decided to ground the engine. This is nearly a complete
engine. The MA3-SPA
carb I am using on the Corvair. One mag gear is gone and there is no
starter. It was a pull
start starter and I replaced it with a Sky-Tec starter so I had to cut off
the pull start
pivot. You will have to replace that part or buy the Sky-Tec starter or the
B & C one that
fits. The oil pump has been overhauled about 20 hours ago and didn't fix my
low oil pressure
situation.

Q-200 cowl This part was made from a my mold. This cowl is missing the
lower area where the
carb intake and carb would go. It is about 3-4 layers of glass and would
have to be
reinforced.

O-200 swing away engine mount. This engine mount allows the engine to swing
out for
maintenance. Also included is a removable mag box.

Lycoming style alt mounting bracket and pulleys. This allows a Nipendensu
alt to be mounted
to the fuel pump pad area of the Continental O-200 engine.

Subaru EJ-22 Engine. This engine is the basic core and I stripped most of
the parts off to
use it as an engine for the Q-200. I have most of the parts and I have a Don
Paraham
modified engine harness that allows this engine to run without all the
excess wires. This
engine has run on the new harness. The engine had over 100,000 miles on it
when removed.

Prince P-Tip propeller suitable for the Continental O-200 I think it is a
58" diam X 68"
pitch. This prop took my Q-200 to just shy of 200 MPH. Also included is a
spinner for the
prop.

Fiberglass air intake/ filter/carb heat part that fits the Q-200
Continental.

Various Continental O-200 gaskets

Continental O-200 accessory case.

Continental O-200 intake elbows.

If you have any interest in these parts please call me at 229-247-5297 or
E-mail me at
koutzl@...

I will not sell these parts at give away prices but something that is fair
or if you have
something to trade let me know. I am interested in:

Corvair engines, VW props, Mazada RX-7 RX-8 engines.

I don't know now when I will be leaving for the Spring Fling. It may be as
much as a week
prior to the event so if you are interested you need to get in touch with me
early!

Re: Patillo's glass tube

JohntenHave <Jtenhave@...>

A lower tech amd less gooey alternative is to wrap the plug with duct
tape, do the layup and excavate the foam with one of those snap off
blade knives fully extended - cut the foam into 1/2 inch squares and
dig it out.

(A bit hard for a fuel tank unless there is a reasonable inspection
panel built into the plan)

I actually made a quick disconnect aux tank using a foam shape then
Bondo and a release agent which was written up long ago.

Thanks for the clarification.
