Re: Quickie "plans" - templates

Larry Severson

I have 12 "D" size sheets (24"x36") that have every template,
part, and jig drawing, from the firewall aft, that I have been able
to find that QAC published with the original kit and the LS-1
upgrade. These sheets include all of the drawings in the
construction manual as well so you no longer have to print the PDF
files from David's CD with a large format printer. Just make a copy
in standard letter size for shop use.
David, how do I get a copy of the CD containing the 12 pages of Q2
templates in PDF files?

I have been trying to get a copy of either the printed Q2 templates
(to cover missing parts from my templates) for over a year. I will
pay for them.
I would be happy to turn them into accurately formatted 8.5X11 pdf files.

Q-2/200 - templates

Leon - C <leon@...>

The only Q-2 CAD I have finished are the templates for the LS-1 canard. Q-2
stuff is kind of low on my priority list right now. Got to get my Quickie in
the air someday....................

I do have - most - of the Q-2/200 templates. I think I can fill in the
blanks for the missing ones and will do the rest in CAD but just not real
soon. IIRC there was another group of Q-list members that were kind of
working on the Q-2 CAD project???

QBA Web site update alert!

Doug Humble <hawkidoug@...>

I just made the following updates to the QBA web site:

1) Added more links to the O200 resource page (Thanks Sam Hoskins!)
2) Added a link to Leon's Template and Parts page on the Plans page
3) Updated the Events page with known dates (still need a dates for 2006 Tandem Wing events) hint, hint

I was thinking about adding a page that has other resources for the builder and I need everyone's help to send me know links to sites. Things like:

1) Airheart brakes
2) SkyTech starters
3) Sources of canopies
4) small tire source

etc.

After I have accumulated several, I'll create a page.

Don't forget your Q-Talk subscriptions are now due! (Yet another shameless plug)

Best regards, Bart Ransom.
I've just finished plotting the first set of my CAD drawn
templates for the Quickie (Q-1) and they should be in the mail to
another Q-list member, for review to make sure that I haven't made
any serious mistakes, today. I'm confidant enough that they are
ready for market that I am letting the lists know that they are
available.

I haven't yet decided on just how to market them so I'm open for
suggestions.

I have 12 "D" size sheets (24"x36") that have every template,

I had considered adding a set of templates that are off-set for
those that like to hot-wire to a larger size and then sand to the
final dimensions but I have not done this - yet. If anyone really
wants a set like this, ask and I might provide.

I also have drawings of all of the welded and machined parts
supplied with the original kits - in actual size - so there is no
reason that any partially completed kit or damaged aircraft can't be
finished or repaired.

Also if anyone knows of a source of reasonably priced software
that will plot both raster and vector at the same time on a Hp 650C
plotter using either WIN 98 or XP please let me know. I don't use
AutoCAD much and the standard Windows drivers just don't work with
mixed formula CAD. The Hp would be a bit quicker than my other
plotter.

I thought it would be a good visual aid when I was talking about what

I still have plenty of room on the website for more bloggers, so if

Re: Revmaster Mag drop.

Sam Hoskins <shoskins@...>

FYI - firing a mag without a path to ground (i.e. sparkplugs) can cause a
breakdown of the insulation within the secondary windings of the magneto's
coil.

These windings aren't much larger, in diameter, than human hair. If a
charge is built up within the mag, the energy has to go somewhere and if
there is no easy ground path damage can result.

Pulling the leads isn't a great idea. It will zap you (I've done it on
a car) and possibly damage the mag as the spark has no where to go so it
jumps around the inside of distributor cap leaving carbon trails
everywhere. Mag rebuild books specifically say don't fire the mag
without a plug attached.

Could be P leads, mag filter (if he has one) or a bad mag (my bet).
