Re: Revmaster R-3000 cost
Panzera <panzera@...>
Pat,$10k What do you think of it so far?I think it could make a huge difference in the LSA industry if Joe would ever bring it to market fully. Could you imagine the RV-12 or even Cessna's LSA with this engine in it rather than the Rotax? Other than that, the engineering is top-notch. Not as pretty as the Jab, but not nearly as expensive either. Is the story on the CH601Yes and no. Several issues back we did an exhaustive article on the engine, http://www.ContactMagazine.com/backissu.html and the most recent issue has an article on the acquisition of the 601. It was only yesterday that I put the two physically together. My plans are to forage ahead and have the first flying R-3000. I'll be keeping a log on our website and keep our readers updated with the progress. Pat

Revmaster R-3000 cost
quickieflying <quickieflying@...>
Pat,
How much is Rev getting for the R-3000? What do you think of it so far? Is the story on the CH601 installation done already and or what issue? DH

Hi Peter,
This afternoon I had a long and very fruitful chat with John (johntenhave@...) in Sydney (didn't get his surname which is a bit embarasing) who knows you and strongly recommended I give you a call and have a talk about a couple of issues he and I discussed. If it is something you would consider, you could email me your phone number (spilligan@...) with some preferred or not times that I might call at. Trevor further forward. Richard, I'm not sure exactly which items you need, but I can probably help. Give me a call. Between Xmas and N/Year would probably be good to meet, especially if the weather's bad. If it's good, I'll likely be busy at the airfield.

Re: Firewall
Peter Harris <peterjfharris@...>
Trevor,
At this time there are only two QJabs flying. I have made good use of the mag box by converting it to a high capacity air filter box for the J3300. You will need to attach the Jab as close as possible to the firewall for CG and I fitted 2.4KG ballast in the tail as well. The mag cavity needs to be lowered as close as possible to the surface of the canard to make clearance for the carb inlet flange. I have a drawing of the engine mount which was approved in principle by Jabiru. Peter _____ From: Q-LIST@... Subject: [Q-LIST] Firewall I suspect I am going to risk the good favour of you all, by asking so many questions on topics long ago discussed and no doubt put to rest and beg your indulgence for being a pain in the bum. I built my firewall to suit the 0200 I had at the time and as a result it has the large central cavity for the magneto (magneto box). I will be going in the direction of a Jabaru now and am wondering about that firewall magneto box intrusion into my cockpit/instrument area. My question is - In practical terms, is it a problem if it remains there, and if it has advantage to removed it, what is the suggested fix to remove it? Does one cut out and rebuild the entire firewall or do a mod to the existing one? Thanks for your comments Trevor Fernihough Would be Tri-Q builder

Having yet to attach the nose wheel to my Tri-Q and having been out of
the loop for many years, I am interested to know more about what the problem is with the old one and what the fix is, and cost etc. I presume the old unit is not suitable for beefing up (that seems to be what is needed?) Trevor Fernihough Would be Tri-Q builder

Sunbumps part 2 - the sequel !
3 months ago young Mike Dwyer wrote to me about refinishing when I first
started work on FN, and the phenomenon of the expanding peeling process, and of course he was right, to some extent at least. The sunbumps remind me of what mum said all those years ago , " leave those spots alone, the more you play with them, the worse they will become" . The tail cone is nearly restored, using West System and lightweight filler, which has worked quite well provided you use the correct process. Unfortunately the weather over here has been cool and wet for the best part of the last 4 weeks, so although it now just needs a final splodge of filler to level up in places, and repainting, it will be a few weeks before that happens ( I have a metal workshop which condensates if you try to heat it when it rains ) . I have tested the paint surface and it is a two pack polyurethane, so I will refinish with the same, better UV protection so the book says. I have been trying a 2 pack polyester filler primer which first tests seem ok. It bonds well to the original polyester and the new epoxy fillers. The canopy is nearly all repaired as well, ready for paint, but it does need the rubber seal replacing, which I am not sure if it is a standard P seal used on all the Q's ? Anyone any info please ?
