yes even you can build any kind of engine you have been wanting !
the post is really not bizzar .

this information is long in hitting the airwaves.

its so simple you will not believe the reason why it is so simple

and the facts on engine building from scratch you missed ...ha ha,

i can`t say i have ever met anyone in all my travels who knows this
really stupid little anom - oly.

once you do understand this "how to" ........you will never forget it
believe me.

i mean japan has known this for ever and has kept it a secret .....as
other engine mfg. companys............
and that is how they have remained able to make , build and sell
engines.

YOU WILL soon UNDERSTAND............ IT IS EASY TO BUILD ~ `HOMEBUILT

THIS IS FOR REAL !

be sure look here on q-list for the complete info on ? sat- or sunday.

I know that if you use the Kohler as a direct drive, you must mount the propeller on the flywheel end. Great Plains Aircraft supply sells an adapter for them.

The issue isn't that it is a nutty idea or that it was even mentioned on this list. Its just that it's continued discussion is better suited in the Performance list. If you belong to both lists, you will still see the posts. If you belong to only the Q-List, you won't. Its just something we agreed to many moons ago.

If it is a nutty idea then why has Sonex built one as well as NASA and Boeing??????? ( Weed Eaters not included.) From what I have been able to gleam from the Internet a Q-1 Quickie with a 20 to30HP motor with a one hour endurance is possible right now with off the shelf stock parts.
Now if some will put their Weed Eater ideals to rest and do some serious thinking,I for one would be interested in an honest exchange of thoughts and ideas.

I vote for a moderated list, that is, anything posted gets reviewed

be a rotated position among at least a half dozen people.
Done.

This list is now moderated.

...and Mike is right, the task is too large for one person.

So I sorted the list of members by date, oldest first, and picked the first
few people that I recognized as long-time members of this list who have
given this list value and I gave them moderator privileges.

This was a little difficult to do with some of you using yahoo names that I
couldn't recognize so please don't feel slighted if you would normally
qualify and I didn't select you. Some of you too have your accounts managed
in such a way that I couldn't give you access.

Anyhow, here's the list. If you see your name and don't feel up to the task,
let me know and I'll switch you back.

Re: List Structure (was Re: q-1)

Mike is correct here gentlemen. Please take the weedeater ,etc. discussion to the Q-Performance list.

We have Mark Wilson asking a legitimate question about powering a Q1 with no response. And then we have the weedeater discussion. The Q-Performance list was created just for these discussions and no one will get upset over it. It is a rule set up just to avoid these list fights that no one wants. Telling someone to use the delete key is not acceptable because there is a place to discuss these issues.

So, please take the discussion quietly to the performance list.

Re: kohler powered Q1

Martin Burns

Hi Mark,

I am working on fitting an uprated Kohler 25 hp to my Q1. I am using a
redrive to raise the prop line and get more power out of the engine by
running it above its normal 3500 rpm. If you don't do this the V-twin
gives a very low prop line which will severely limit the size of prop
you can use.
You are right; the best engine to start with would probably be the 27hp
carburetted engine or the 28hp efi engine. The more powerful engines
are a good bit heavier.

So far I have the engine running on a test stand, not yet on the
Quickie.

You refering to the Onan 18hp that the QAC modified? or the Onan 18hp
that you can purchase from Onan themselves? I'm told that the QAC
Onan 18hp weighs in around 76 pounds. The currently available Onan
18hp motor from Onan weighs in at roughly 140 pounds. A big
difference in weight there for the same hp.

Sheehan unbolted cooling shrouds and other unecessary stuff to get to the
final weight so don't just accept the Onan sales brochure weight. Removing that
stuff does not require high level mechanical skills either.

Aahhh okay...rocket Q1, or Q2.

Remove the tail assembly , put another tail assembly there and a pipe sticking out in the back for the rocket , oh well,.... put a small weedeater engine upfront that powers the cooling and the fuel delivery to the rocket. It'll go 250 MPH and it will run for five years. ooookay, oh well.... I wish you luck my friend.

to remove the tail section and build a rudder assembly and new tail

with a small hole in the rear of the aircraft for the rocket tube to

This list is getting totally out of control. This list is, or at

used to be, a source of support for builders and fliers of Quickie

I vote for a moderated list, that is, anything posted gets reviewed
before
being posted. One guy can't moderate all this trash, it needs to
be a
rotated position among at least a half dozen people. On the other
hand, I
guess I can always quit, but it would be nice to have info on the
plane I'm
actually building.

Weed eaters -- Hydraulic Quickies -- Rocket powered Quickies --
Moving map
software. Please, give it up or get on the right list (not this
one).
