Hey Jon!
That was soo cool! I thought I was video taping you but must have pushed the wrong button. Paul and Kevin got some good pics and a video of your aileron roll. It was awesome!

All,

I managed to form up with Bruce, Kevin, and Paul near Albuquerque as they crossed New Mexico on their way to Livermore. SWEET!!! Not of us were sure what the odds of that happening successfully but it did!

They are making good time and everything running well.

I had only my crummy phone camera but did snap a couple photos. None of them came out showing much.... Sorry.

According to Paul's APRS, they are about to land in Winslow, AZ.

Sanjay,
I found a cap for mine the fits perfectly and I think it has a safety wire connection to secure it. When I get home I will look in my receipts to see if I can find the source. You might try to google it under tach caps for home built aircraft and see if anything pops up.

I made it back safely. . .

quickheads2 <groups@...>

Hey All,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I made it back safely. The flight from Chicago to Wilkes-Barre was a bit more cramped than my flights with Bruce and Jim P. (The lady next to me kinda spilled over the arm rest a bit.) But I don't care, I still have a huge s**t eating grin on my face!

I had such a blast at Livermore, it was great to meet you all, and I especially appreciated the hospitality of our hosts Alan and Sam! (Not to mention the awesome experience of my first Q flight!) Bruce and Jim both have awesome machines and I don't think I'll enjoy that rented Cessna quite as much now! Needless to say I am totally hooked!

It was also great to "pick the brain" of Jim Masal and learn a few QBA tricks from the Master! LOL!

I will do a more thorough write-up in the next newsletter. I'll get that out as soon as my brain recovers from the 3 hour time difference.

Thanks again everyone!

Cheers,
Dan Yager

Re: Paul Fisher Flight East - Update

Thanks to all who have reported a safe return home from Livermore, HoneyLamb for Bruce (at least to visit the grandkids in AZ), Masals, Johnson Brothers, and Phil and Peter, all good news.  Jack and Diane, did you both get out on BART and make it home ok??  I feel like the mother of 30 children, wondering if each one got home safely...  :-)   Now, we'll all continue to track Paul and Kevin on Monday, i'll tell you, this tracking system is doggon good, and tons of fun... i think we may have started a new trend here!   And Tim Iverson, let us know you made it back safely too.  (Sam is forwarding this to the D-Fly List, thanks,  Sam!)  Dan Yager, i know you are probably getting in to PA late, but check in here too, thanks!

Thanks so much for reporting in, everybody. Makes me sleep better... and i've been sleeping all afternoon actually...

Alan and Sam

Lynn,

As I said earlier, they gassed at Scotts Bluff and moved on. I think they were overnighting in Alliance or Souix City.

Jim,

P.S.Joanne, glad to hear Bruce made it to Deer Valley. I think he had a good time in LVK as well. We enjoyed seeing those guys. Its a long trip and not cheap anymore.

With all of us following Paul and Kevin's and Bruce's return back east, yes, the Livermore Tandem-Wing Fly-in is officially over, but what a lot of great memories all those who attended will be taking back with them!? Sam and i want to thank all those who were able to make it, and especially Paul Lipps who presented a great forum on "Air" and how it works to keep our planes aloft, using some extremely interesting and new approaches to understanding an old topic.? Thanks so much, Paul!? Our chicken dinner was outstanding, thank you so much too, Sam, and if you didn't make it, you missed out on some great food!

We wound up with one less plane than last year, but no less enthusiasm expressed by all who made it, and by some new builders as well, attending a Quickie Fly-in for the very first time.? Longest Distance award went to Paul Fisher, and Best Overall went to John Youngblood, with his incredible Velocity.

And speaking of new builders, our new Newsletter editor, Dan Yager, attended all the way from Pennsylvania, and had a blast!? We all enjoyed meeting him, and he really enjoyed meeting us as well.? The look on his face after getting rides in Bruce's and Jim's planes was priceless! I think he's stoked!? Also in attendance were Jim AND Mary Masal, and of course our pilots from Oklahoma, Iowa, Utah (the ever faithful Johnson Brothers, who made the trek from Ogden) and Central and Southern? California (Paul Lipps and Tim Iverson, respectivley).? Also from Southern California were Peter Trost and Phil Lankford, in Peter's sharp VariEZ.? Paul Lipps' plane from Central California was a study in airflow that would amaze anyone!? Dan will be writing up a full report on the event for our next newsletter, and will be including pictures accessible through a link that will be available to us all by the time of publication.

All those who flew out to the event, please let us know that you arrived home safely, even on commercial, just so we won't worry.

It was a great event, and after Sam and i get some needed rest, we're going to start planning for the event next year, and please send along any suggestions you might have for speakers, timing of the event, or just general comments.? Stay tuned!

All the best,

Alan and Sam, Co-hosts

Well Paul and Kevin gassed in Scotts Bluff about 45 minutes ago. They are enroute to Souix City or Alliance for an overnight. I don't think they are flying all the way home tonight.

Livermore Fly-in Report

millenniumflier@...
