Can anyone tell me if a Q200 will fit on a trailer and be legal for transport
across the nation? (with the tail removed or course) I know it was a real issue
for the triQ with the motor on, but have no experience with the standard
configuration.

Thanks

UK or US?
In the UK with the engine on and the boss but not the prop it's about 2 inches over. The Cops wouldn't know the legalities so I trailered mine OK.

Re: Trailer configuration

With the motor off, rear slightly raised, Q2 or Q200 fits easily within
the 8' 6" (102 inch) US national standard. The national standard is for
commercial vehicles but I don't think any state limits private vehicle
width to less than this.

I believe some people have moved Qs short distances with the motor on by
raising the rear of the fuselage high in the air.

Listers,
I will once again host the Tandem Wing Spring Fling in DEH. I am looking at May 6, 7, 8.
Anybody have a conflict with that? Please speak up as nothing is set in stone.
But this is a benevolent dictatorship, so the majority CAN be overruled. :>))))
Hope to get a date set and Dan will put info up on the Q web site.
More details later.

Thanks Guys,. I am going to play with the photos and the wings Paul sent me and see what looks best. If you all like when I get done I will post it for inspection.
When Choose the design for my leg I was standing there with the leg of my pants zipped off holding design;'s up against it to see what would look good. Ended up six strangers got in on the act and helped me with the choice. It turned out great and we all had fun. I will get a pic and post it if anyone is interested. Sorry to be off topic. Darrell

I don't have it handy or I'd send it, but maybe someone else has it
handy.

The 3/4 view of the fluid dynamic coloring of the Q might look pretty
slick.
A quick Google for it turned up this image, but it's only a side-view,
not
the 3/4 view.

Re: Q1 Onan Engine Crankshaft Diameter

pilotyeager

Terry -

Thanks for the help. Mine is the 1 7/16". I found the following table:

http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/OnanCrankshaft.asp

So, mine is the 45BE, which has the following specs:

Type Straight
Diameter 1.44
Total Shaft Length 3.99
Usable Shaft Length 3.06
Internal Thread 3/8-24
Shaft Feature 0.38 SQ Keyway

The other one that you refer to must be the 45BB, which has the following specs:

Type Straight
Diameter 1.12
Total Shaft Length 3.95
Usable Shaft Length 2.74
Internal Thread 3/8-24
Shaft Feature 0.25 SQ Keyway

I think the Keyway is pretty important, so I think the crankshaft options are limited to these two choices.

Cheers!

Robert

Re: Video - Top of Tail

Jay Scheevel <scheevel@...>

Jon,

Is that why you moved to NM? So you could ask the aliens in Roswell how to
put the plasma drive on your plane? :)

Looks like you are holding left aileron to fly level. Normally I would
expect right aileron to fly level with single pilot. Is that what you are
referring to? Now I really want to measure your wings. Maybe I can get down
there this spring. Should be about 2.5 hours for me, but my plane is down
for annual right now.

Cheers,

Hello Sam, Jon:

Right Aileron is up -- but is he flying solo? If so might be the trim
needed?

Any Comments on Aileron trim vs. Elevator? Ease of installation,
forces, area, drag???

Thanks, Mike Perry

Fix that and you might pick up a few MPHs.

This plane is for sale on Barnstormers as a damaged plane. I was thinking about picking it up and getting it back in the air for my son to fly while we are building the Q200 as it is not that far from my house. Any one that may have info on this plane I would appriciate a heads up.

Questions in my mind are, If this is an LS canard as stated, would it also have counter balanced control surfaces? Any conerns about putting the wheel back on other than the added weight on one side for the repair?

Does any one have an opinion on the original construction. It looks pretty good from the photo's, but I have not been able to contact the seller at this point for a visit.

Thanks in advance.
