Wanna Host a Fly-in?
quickheads
Hey All,
Several of you told me that you'd be interested in hosting a Tandem Wing event in 2011. As you've gathered, I'm trying to gather all of the information for these events so that I can post the Schedule on the QBA website. I also wanted to offer you the following support: If you can host an event (Provide an adequate runway and a secure hanger for a weekend), I can help you locate dining facilities, negotiate lodging rates, and fuel rates, and provide door prizes including QBA T-shirts, coffee mugs, award trophies, etc. So no more excuses, if you're interested in hosting an event, please contact me offlist so that we can get something set up. http://www.quickheads.com/Contact-Me/Dan-Yager.html Again I want to get out and see a lot more of you guys this year! Mostly so I can steal ideas for my own project! LOL! An event here on the East Coast would be nice! (Or the UK maybe?) Hmmm? Warm regards, Dan Yager QBA Editor www.quickheads.com

Trailer
Larry Severson
I am currently home with Bronchitis. As a result I messed up. 3 people asked for trailer pictures. I sent them to Hawkdog and Martin, but I lost the other request.
Also, the trailer is currently empty. When I am able to get back to CNO, I will be able to get specific construction details pictures of the trailer. The person who built it had been planning to sell them, but he died in early 1985. It is definitely the only way to transport a Q2, unless you love frustration and hard work. -- "Engineering is the art of doing well with one dollar which any bumbler can do with two, after a fashion.", Albert M. Same old crap sounds familiar. Corporate doesn't fix problems they just keep whipping you thinking that will squeak out an extra shilling. But hey they paid me to keep doing it the same way for years and I applied for the job. So guess I am partly responsible. Sammy are you going to build another plane?

Re: Trailer configuration - further

My trailer was specifically designed for the Q2. The plane is rolled
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
into the trailer arms. The arms are then clamped onto the canard. The tail is removed. The plane is then rotated upward exposing a rest designed to hold the tail. Once the tail section has been clamped on, the plane is ready to travel. It can take as little as 15 minutes to load or off load the plane. The engine stays on.

Yes, I have one in my hanger. It has been used to transport Q2 planes

from both Oregon and Arizona to California. I have also transported a triQ, but it was a hassle because the nose gear had to be removed first. I am willing to sell or rent it. I can send a PDF with pictures on planes on the trailer to anyone interested.

In the UK with the engine on and the boss but not the prop it's about 2 inches over. The Cops wouldn't know the legalities so I trailered mine OK. mick

With the motor off, rear slightly raised, Q2 or Q200 fits easily within
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
the 8' 6" (102 inch) US national standard. The national standard is for commercial vehicles but I don't think any state limits private vehicle width to less than this. I believe some people have moved Qs short distances with the motor on by raising the rear of the fuselage high in the air. Mike Perry

Shirt info
Darrell Daniels <log@...>
Thanks Guys,. I am going to play with the photos and the wings Paul sent me and see what looks best. If you all like when I get done I will post it for inspection.
When Choose the design for my leg I was standing there with the leg of my pants zipped off holding design;'s up against it to see what would look good. Ended up six strangers got in on the act and helped me with the choice. It turned out great and we all had fun. I will get a pic and post it if anyone is interested. Sorry to be off topic. Darrell
