Fuelventure at Copperstate

ERacerVinn@...

Tandem Aviators:

This year, the Copperstate fly-in will be hosting the Fuelventure fuel
efficiency contest but new for this year is a 200 mile competition for aircraft
flying 60 to 119 miles per hour. (We will also continue with the 400 mile
competition for 120+ mph). We've asked for and received a more prominent
status in the Copperstate fly-in so it should be lots of fun and a great
place to show off your airplane.

The Q's should be able to clean-up on the MPG in the lightweight classes!

Jerry,

Thank you so much for the encouragement!  Sure glad you enjoyed the write-up, and i appreciate the kind words.  Yup, that's exactly why Sam and i spend alot of time planning for a fly-in, to keep our planes in the air and keep the Q-community breathing, if not thriving!  Wish you could have made it, but it is a very long trip for you.  Maybe next year?

See you next week - with green shorts to boot!

Check out this video. The cool thing is the http://dashware.net/

Software embeds the flight info into the video...

Not sure how???? I think it only works with GPS based cameras?

It's coming up soon!

I would appreciate a head count to help us plan the logistics. If you think

you are coming, please send me a brief e-mail at: sam.hoskins@... If

you are flying, please let me know what type of aircraft.

This year's Tandem Wing event is being held on September 9, 10, & 11

at the Williamson

County Airport (KMWA) <http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMWA> , in Marion, IL.

Click here to see all about it: http://southernillinoisfieldofdreams.

blogspot.com/ and be sure to click on all the header tabs. Besides having

big runways, MWA is also served by Cape Air, which connects to St. Louis

Lambert airport.

As I said, this year's event is open to all composite tandem-wing type

aircraft (including VariViggen, VariEze, Defiant, Quickie, Long EZ, Cozy,

etc.).

We are also making this a project swap meet and so, I am encouraging people

to bring projects to sell. If you are interested in purchasing a partially

complete project (or even a virgin one) or if you want to unload that garage

dust-magnet, this may be your big chance.

Having said that, there is no guarantee that we will have buyers, but let's

give it a shot. I ran into a couple of guys at Oshkosh that have virgin

kits and others with projects at various stages.

To advertise your project on the Tandem Wing blog listed above, shoot me an

e-mail at sam.hoskins@... and put "Fly-In For Sale" in the subject

line. Give a concise description of what you have for sale, and I will list

it here. You may also attach two photos. Please only list things that will

actually be here in Marion. If you decide not to bring it, let me know and

I'll pull the listing. KMWA is just off I-57 for easy towing or trailers and

the like.

Since this is not Ebay and I don't want to start bidding wars, I will not

list the sale price here. Having said that, I am sure there will be some

good deals to be had.

I bumped into a couple of folks at Oshkosh who had already reserved rooms,

so get them while they're hot!

Please forward this e-mail to anyone who might be interested.

See you there.

Re: Template needed

Rick Hole

Thanks guys! I had the needed template ready to go this morning and cut the
foam cores this afternoon. I had a real pro, Jim Campbell, who has cut
several hundred sets of wings, helping me out. It's great for confidence
having that level of expertise at hand! And the cores look great. Another
person manned the camera for stills and video clips. I'll do something with
those soon.

The foam billets being produced now are a bit different in shape and size
than those in the Plans, so it was necessary to adapt how the templates fit
on the billet. It took longer to figure that out than to cut the foam!

Hey Rick,
Attached are template sheets 3 and 4 from the Q2 plans. These are in
the package I have for sale on the website, so please don't share these.
These are scanned from an original set I have and then formatted for
36" paper. You should be able to have them printed at Kinko's with no
problem. Hope this helps, please let me know.

I'd appreciate a review of the templates, or maybe an article or some
photos of the build for the newsletter if you wouldn't mind an exchange!

A scan of the template or the plan for the template will do. Please

While I am at it, as long as the wing table is set up and ready to
