Re: Revmaster 2100

Larry Severson

I have a 2100D that has about 8 hours since it was rebuilt by Revmaster.
I crashed with it, but the prop hub can be swung with less than .005
tolerance. Revmaster says that it is better than their shipping
tolerances. I have listed it for $800. If you send it to Revmaster and
have them do another rebuild and add goodies, it would still be less
than $2K.

Enter the Big Muddy Air Race - June 9 - Carbondale, IL

Sam Hoskins

Hello Fellow Aviation Nut..

Cross-country air racing isn't just for the Reno Crowd. Sport Air Racing
League races let everyone get in on the fun. in a SARL race you are racing
for your best speed in categories that pit you against similar aircraft and
engines. A Cessna 150 pilot can win her class, just as well as a
Lancair Legacy driver can win in his.

You get to exercise (and probably dust off) all those basic skills you
learned as a student; flying in a straight line, altitude control, fuel
management, head-on-a-swivel, etc., and when you cross that finish line I
guarantee you'll have an ear-to-ear grin!

Take a look at the Big Muddy Air Race web site and sign up today. Only a
couple of weeks remain.

http://bigmuddyairrace.blogspot.com/

Just for fun, I'm attaching a copy of the race "Cheat Sheet" which is
issued at the pilot's briefing. It's a two page summary of the key things
you need to know to complete the race.

Please forward this e-mail to a friend who might be interested.

If you would like to ask any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail or to call.

Thanks, and have fun!

For Rick: Re: Q2+ for sale

Larry Severson

Larry, I hope this is overcome-able. For me, just the cost of flying has

kept me grounded, even after getting my lost medical reinstated.

Rick Hole
An alternative is to fly with an instructor/ tour guidde when you go on
trips. We did that in hawaii. when I heard how much ground school and
check ride they wanted to rent a plane there, I merely hired the
instructor to be my guide. My wife sat in the back of the 172. The price
for a 45 minute tour was $280 per person. We flew all of the way around
the big island in 1:40. The cost was $300. We had fun, saw more, and
saved money.

Re: Q2+ for sale

Rick Hole

If they follow (presumably would) the LSA rule, the driver license medical
does NOT apply if the pilots last FAA medical was denied, revoked, or
withdrawn. If the pilot chooses not to renew a medical he is OK, but if the
FAA (or through their agent the AME) nixes the application, the pilot cannot
use the driver license exception without first obtaining a new medical
certificate.

I would advise any pilot using the driver license to consider very carefully
any disqualification and not to fly if not completely fit. And that is what
the FAR requires from us.

Larry,

You may not want to be so quick. There is a move to do away with the medical
for certain aircraft. Single engine, less than 180 hp, fixed gear. The plane
can be 4 place, but you can only take up one passenger. This is NOT Sport
Pilot, you still fly under you private pilots license. It appears the rules
will require a 8 hour free course on how to recognize if you are fit to fly.
The Q-2 and Dragonfly are ideal candidates.

There is no such thing as a free lunch?

Patrick Panzera

Well maybe there is...

Here's a short list of a few things that are free to homebuilders, experimental aviators.

To view this very same message at an interactive website, click here:
http://www.contactmagazine.com/FreeLunch.html

1) EAA's Experimenter eNewsletter.

We've just entered our fourth year of offering an online publication dedicated to homebuilders and experimental aviators. It's a monthly newsletter that's filled with articles about and links to stuff that we know applies to you, and it's completely free, even to non EAA members.

The catch? None, other than having to deal with maybe three or four small ads- which currently are Wicks, Spitfire, Sportair Workshops, and sometimes COZY. They are so small and invasive they're actually a little hard to find.

Here's a link to the current issue:
http://www.eaa.org/experimenter/issues/1202.html. The next issue is about to go live any day now.

Signing up now will ensure it gets delivered to your inbox. You can do that here: http://www.eaa.org/experimenter/

And if you'd like to see some of the back issues, you can do that here:

http://www.eaa.org/experimenter/issues/default.asp

2) CONTACT! Magazine

We've recently placed a total of 10 issues of our magazine online for a free download.

http://www.eaa.org/experimenter/issues/default.asp

The catch? None, other than that we hope you'll enjoy it enough to subscribe.

3) The Alternative Engine Round-up

CONTACT! Magazine has been sponsoring a free fly-in for several years. It's moved around a little, and last year it moved once again. This year it will continue to be held in conjunction with the Golden West Fly-in (as it was last year) in Marysville CA and will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2012.

http://www.ContactMagazine.com/roundup.html

If you are flying-in with an aircraft powered by a Sube, Corvair, Rotary, Viking, or any other auto conversion and would like to present a forum (or even if you are currently building one and can't bring it), please contact me. Editor@...

The catch? In order for it to be free, you must fly in with an experimental aircraft that has an "alternative engine" and be willing to put it on display with the others. This will entitle you and the occupants who flew in with you to attend the fly-in for free. And for you that have an experimental (data plate removed) hot-rod Lycoming, Continental, or any number of non-certified, non-auto conversion engines (UL, Jabiru, Hirth, Deltahawk, etc.) we consider those an "alternative engine" too.

The catch? Absolutely none. This is how we "give back" to the community. Unfortinuately, if you don't fly in with a qualifying aircraft, you'll have to pay the normal rate to get into the Golden West event, but there won't be any additional fee to attend the Round-up.

4) Sun 'n Fun 2012 Alternative Engine Forums on DVD.

Ok, this one's not completely free, but it's also not ready yet. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that we'll be offering it soon, for free, as a thank-you for a donation to our cause: http://www.contactmagazine.com/contact1.html

The catch? A donation to a great cause.

5) Facebook

You can keep up with the latest experimental aviation news by following us on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/www.CONTACTMagazine

https://www.facebook.com/Experimenter.eNewsletter

https://www.facebook.com/Patrick.Panzera

The catch? Facebook itself. :)

But you don't need to sign-up to read the CONTACT! Magazine and Experimenter pages.

6) We need your article

As you may have noticed, I'm the editor of two experimental aircraft publications, CONTACT! Magazine and Experimenter. So I'm always on the hunt for articles.

Each of these publications are about you, the homebuilder. Whether you are building or flying an experimental aircraft, we need your story! If you don't think you have a story worth sharing, this short video http://www.wimp.com/obviousyou/ may help.

While not every plane or project can be highlighted in the pages of *Sport Aviation*, or *KITPLANES*, your fellow readers still want to see your accomplishments, including any tips you may have to share, or tools you may have created along the way. All we need is 500-1500 words, 5-10 photos and a brief description or caption for each one. If you would like to write more, it is encouraged, and don't be surprised if we contact you to ask more about your project. The best stories come from you, so please don't be bashful.

The catch? You may get mobbed by fans, you could get a movie deal, or you could get nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Thank you for reading this through to the end. I humbly apologize if this reaches you more than once; it only means that you and I are on the same email groups more than once. And I truly hope that you benefit from reading this and taking advantage of these things that are there for you.

And if you're willing, please share this email with those who you think can benefit, individuals and groups alike.

Sincerely
