Subject: [Q-LIST] TriQ Nose leg query

Hi Guys,

Not had much time for writing this year, been too busy getting things finished on the TriQ200.

Question for any of the TriQ flyers on the nose leg installation.

On the upgraded Scott Swing nose leg, do you have any clearance between the leg and the Canard lower skin in the zone between the firewall mount and the slider, or is yours snug against it ?
I remember seeing that this prevents loading the firewall mounting bolts and helps prevent failure.

I currently have about 1/4" clearance. Anyone confirm what they have please ?

If it helps I mounted my nose gear so that the front on the gear has at least 1 degree forward so the bottom is forward. That keeps the gear from developing a shimmy. It should be built in but is worth checking.Bruce

For your nose gear mounting the 1/4" should be fine as long as the tube follows the contour of the canard. I can send you a picture if it would help. the loads push the tube downward and not up into the canard.

There are a couple on the quickheads sight I know the one Mike Mcgowen has for sale has had a bit of money and time put into it making everything right. As far as price I believe it is well below what he has invested. He is a great guy to speak with and very strait forward. It maybe a little farther then you maybe looking.

I also have one for sale. I just ran out of time to finish this one. Its N72PJ built by Orville Haxton. I bought this about 4 years ago and after hours of work had a fuel leak and so there it sets with the main tank out and the left elevator off. I put a lot of work into this q2 with the LS Canard on it. Its got a lot of potential with lots of awesome parts and upgrades. Let me know if you're interested, or if anyone is. Located in Western Ks.

Say, did someone fly into Grove Oklahoma this weekend during the air race? My hanger mate said he saw a Quickie there with a small amount of yellow on the side. Could that have been Bob Clark's TriQ200?Bruce
