Re: Spinners

Mike Bergen

Sam, you should know by know that welded aluminum has it¹s issues. The heat
affected zones on either side of the weld will crack again unless you
Œnormalize¹ or heat treat after the welding.

For a composite fabrication, if you had a good spinner you could actual use
that as a mold. I¹ll be talking of some of those tricks in my talks at Sun
ŒN Fun. You have to come down...

What a PIA!!!

The real issue is with fabricating a true running front bulkhead.

Blech.

Guys and Galls,
Ski Club Great Britain just published my report below!
Not such a stuffy organisation after all. This goes out to 31,000
members plus anyone who cares to follow the Kitzbuhel leader's report.
Send it to a friend who skis and lets hope it goes viral. By the way the
most intimidating mens downhill race in the world is here, it is called the
Hahnenkamm, translated it means "Chicken run", that's Tyrolian humour!!!!
I love it.Heaven on earth is a place called Kitzbuhel.Thank You Kitzbuhel
and the UK spitfire squadron and wingmen and singlestons. We came we
conquered the hills and showed them how to drink the beer :-)
Until the next time
Cheers all Gary

Full leaders snow
report<http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/snowreports/leaderssnowreport.aspx/Kitzbuhel>

Leaders day off so time for a solo reccy mission. Did 55 black off piste to
the right where shadow of wind and sun keeps it soft longest. Then did a
strafing run straight down the black on piste as I could see it clearly
this morning. Wearing a chicken mask whilst doing it puts smiles on most
nationalities with the obvious day triper exceptions! Anyone wearing a
jacket with "mountain sport designer wear" in huge letters on the back
would not recognise a skier or a joke if they saw one! So places to be
avoided on weekends are Sonnenbule etc where the fashion parade gather
close to the lifts for a very lazy day out trying to look the part but
clearly only to their own! It really is high quality entertainment to us so
don't not go just don't expect to get any seats or a place at the bar! It
only took one Spitfire in reconnaisance flying light and fast without the
back pack to scatter them in to the restaurants. What a blast, well
recommended!

Well the good news is that the A&P IA flew up from Hampton Roads, VA, to
inspect the damage. He could not believe how little damage there was. So he
is looking at about three man weeks of labor to execute the repairs. Already
talked to Rhonda Barrett at BPE and they can turn around the tear down and
inspect in about three weeks. The really sad news as this was a zero time
TCM IO470 with only 55 hrs on it :-(

Certainly have more time to focus on the Q200 in the next couple of weeks.
Recently made my first attempt at a full comformable engine baffle and other
than minor cosmetic issues not to my standard. I¹m real pleased with the fit
and finish. I¹m going to make another one possibly next week. PIX enclosed.

Updated QBA Newsletter Index with Search. . .

quickheads

Hey All,
As you might have heard, all 30 years worth of QBA
newsletters are now archived online for current QBA members.

http://tinyurl.com/8pe4dmn [1]
The nice lady (the mother of one of my
Navy buddies) who helped me archive all of them, also helped me fix up
the Q-talk search utility originally created by the late QBA Editor Dave
Richardson. You can find that here:

http://tinyurl.com/a3r6pwk [2]

This new and improved index will allow everyone (even non-members) to
be able to find newsletter topics quickly. (And hopefully encourage QBA
membership.)

The "Page" referenced in the search results is for the
printed newsletters.

The "Description" is a brief overview of what the
article is about. (NOT the entire article.)

The "Read Online" link in
the search results will work if you are a current member AND you are
logged in. (Opens in a new window/tab.)

You can enter search terms,
search by author, search by topic, or select Quick or Q-talk.

To see
all of the Topics in the Database simply select "ALL" and then click the
"Search" button.

Current Members can still search all of the online
content (Including the Q-talk Archive) by using the "Search" box in the
upper right hand corner of every page.

As always, I appreciate your
feedback, so please let me know OFFLIST if this is at all helpful.

Warm regards,

Hi Bruce
Great to hear that you are interested in a Q2. It will be nice to see another active Q owner in Western Canada. As Rene says do your homework and do a good inspection on all parts of the aircraft. They are a blast to fly and will give you a grin you won't believe, also very easy to maintain and inexpensive to operate. Good luck.

Hi
I am a new member and am looking at trading a 1970 C 150 for a Q2 in Gimli Manatoba. The owner is the third person to own this plane and was the one to finish it. It has a revmaster engine in it and has flown for 2 circuits for about .5 of an hour. The registration number is C-GMLW. I am looking at driving from Christina Lake BC to Gimli to trailer this plane back. As of yet I have only seen pictures of the plane but have not actually seen it in real life. I heard something about an engine failure on this particular plane and was wondering if anyone out there has any info on this.
Thanks

I've had this in the past with a hack from Facebook. Whilst I'm sure companies have a policy of keeping details secure, that doesn't stop the employees being bribed to acquire details!
Not flown much. Wettest 6 months on record and now snow but should take G-BWIZ up for a run later this week, even if it's just to run the engine properly!

It would appear that someone managed to access my address book and insert an

For what reason I cannot think, except perhaps so that I cannot identify the
real source of the email with it's probably viral link.

another using Mike's name but not his address, again suggesting I click on a

Neither the email address nor the link are the same as the first one.
Be warned, don't click on anything that you are not sure about!!
