Hey guys,

A friend asked me to try to sell his once flying Q2. Its been sitting for a few years. He bought it and it was shipped down from canada. He doesnt think he has any books on it, but it does have a data plate. Comes with a Revmaster. I took some rough pics but I will try to clean it up a little bit if anyone is interested.

I think he would like $8K for it, but he might entertain offers.

Doesnt look too bad, worst part is looks like a small puddle of water was sitting in the front of tail cone and it did some damage to the fiberglass in that area. Definitely could use some TLC.

Email me at pilothicks@... if you have any questions. I dont check yahoo that often.

Its located at ODO airport. Odessa, TX

Re: Q1 Prop Hub

Were you ever able to get dimensions for the prop hub. I am also looking for the prop hub for the Onan as well as the flywheel. I don't think I would ever try to fly the Q1 with it but I would like to get it running.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Q200 performance numbers for TO/Landing + TBI

Jay Scheevel

Hi Grayson,

I have a Rotec TBI -40 for my Jabiru 3300. I have not flown it yet, but have been in touch with many who have them on their engines. All report good results. It is basically a knock off of an Ellison throttle body that has been in use for decades. The only caveat I would make is that the slider gate that opens and closes the throttle requires more force than you can apply with the push pull wire control you probably have on the M-S carb. You will need to re-engineer a more robust throttle actuator to use the Rotec. Have  look at their literature to see what they recommend.

Cheers,

Q200 performance numbers for TO/Landing + TBI

gvbo@...

Hmmm those are some good figures for T/O + Land!

We have a 60 inch Ivo-prop Magnum - but am looking at a replacement, maybe a CATTO prop?

We always use a minimum field length of 600 metres (2000ft), adding 100 metres if the field is a bit bumpy - our home field has 6000ft seal but almost all the airfields we fly to are grass runways!

She departs well, even on the grass, but its only with the new Matco brakes that we've got the landing distances down. We can pull up in around 450 mtrs but we always leave the buffer.

ROC at MTOW is around 800 fpm.

Speaking of performance, who has TBI on their O-200's? We are looking at a Rotec Aerosport 40-3 unit out of Australia.

Kiwi's sadly flightless at Sun'n'Fun

gvbo@...

Sadly the kiwi duo couldn't get the roster figured to come over - we tried but as happens with airline rosters sometimes things just don't work - and despite having seniority to bid too!

Though not getting there this week gives us even more excuse to simply make a big road trip over - made even easier by our airline adding NZAA - KHOU!

To you all going to the big fly-in this week have the best time, look forward to many pictures and stories. Blue skies, sunshine and smiles from us down here in Middle Earth!

Re: 'Quick' Question

Robert Bounds

Not too sure.  I think he cruised at around 135 mph and he could climb pretty fast.  I’d guess around 1200 fpm.

Finleys Q-1 was standard size.  It was a pretty heavy Q with a VW on it but he made it work.

Hello folks,

I'm curious. Has anyone successfully scaled up a Q1 to handle larger pilots and maybe a VW engine? Forgive my navet, I've just started looking into the Quickie series.

Regards,

Dave Anderson

That would sound like a Q2 to me.  You could build it as a one seater.

Just a reminder that Kevin with his new Q200 and my old Q200 will be at Sebring KSEF airport next Thursday around 11am - weather permitting.  Your welcome to join us near the terminal building where there is a restaurant for lunch and getting out of the sun!  Sebring is within Kevins test flight area and only an hour drive from Lakeland so come join us!

Here in West central FL the sky was grey, mush, and cloudy so we went boating to our favorite island instead of flying.  It was a nice beach day!
