Has anyone ever investigated having the QAC carbon spars duplicated at a commercial composite manufacturing facility?

Does anyone have a set up unused carbon spars that could be measured (length, diameter, wall thickness, etc.)?

Does anyone recall the original price of the carbon spars?

Hi Bruce,

I will try the computer again and see if this gets through. 

I think I have essentially a hybrid-range prop 54x62. The engine redlines at 3300 rpm, so although the 2850 seems fast to you O-200 dudes, it is not too high for the Jab. I have to make a pretty aggressive dive to get it to 3300 rpm in my testing so far. I will need to get down to lower altitudes to see what it will do wide open and level when the air is thick. I can get close to 3000 rpm at my altitude when I go WOT and level.

I still have a pretty draggy machine at the high end, since I have no wheel fairings.  So maybe after cleaning the gear up a bit, I may see about getting my prop re-piitched. In any case, this is the perfect phase 1 prop for me, and I am very happy so far.

There is a 10,000' runway 10 miles east with fuel. So for long trips, I will pack myself, luggage, and minimal fuel, then fly to the larger strip, pick up fuel. All of that subject to testing, since I am still in phase 1 for a few more hours.

Good to know about Truckee and the 5,900 elev.....highest DA I have flown so far is 3,900 (just a warm day in Texas) and I still got off the ground in about 1,200ft.  Can't remember how many gallons I had that day though.

I believe the brake lines are recommended to be replaced at least within 15 years.  Mine are about 1.5 years old...it is the compression fittings that need to be redone on mine.  But I will likely still switch to stainless sometime in the future.

I know Allan and another friend who fly out of KFLY with  Long EZ’s. It’s around 6800 ft elevation and has density altitudes of 8 to 10 on any given day.  Their runway is 6,000

I just use two of these screwed together; bought them at Big Lots of all places.

I will say that Corbin's suggestion seems much easier. I seem to recall that these barely stick out past the wheel pant once fitted, which makes fitting the air chuck a royal pain.

NAPA has the metal valve stem extensions that will screw together they are used on Semi tires. We use them with our Q's and other aircraft with access through the wheel pants. Don't forget to remove them after use they will break off and not hurt the stem but it's a pain to get the part left behind off we may or may not have done this one or twice.

I just screwed 2 metal extenders from the auto parts store together.  Had no issue with the threads...  Locktight them to make sure they don't come apart...
