Hey Paul, that’s the one but I bought mine from the mfg in Tenn. Real nice people. Don’t know if they are less expensive or not. I really like mine

Re: Flight Report

Danny Bilyeu

I’ll ask my dad.  It’s never been run, so would need a thorough going over.  I’m sure he would sell it.  It came with a KR-2 project that was about 80% complete when he bought it in the late 80’s, then never touched.  I do know the engine turns over, or at least did when I looked at it last, and appears to have been properly “pickled”.

Jay, laughing like crazy here!  That was a good one...  oh well, now that i'm not working i wanna get back to my lonely little Q-1, hanging from the rafters of my hangar... just awaiting systems installation... and an engine, is all....  AND finish the cowelling for my Q-2 and at least get the Jabiru started....  it's that close.

And Oshkosh next year for the Q anniversary sounds might appealing!

Thanks, Jay!

According to this old Homebuilt Aircraft article, the 40th anniversary of the Q2 is coming up next year. Has anyone reached out to, or been contacted by, EAA about celebrating the occasion at Oshkosh? Anyone making plans for a special get-together?

Contact Sonex. They sell a bolt on turbo for their AeroV (VW conversion) engine. Had a guy on my field install one on his and it is a nice unit and well built. Not sure if it will fit under the hood on a Q, but the pieces are all there and could be modified to fit. Can boost up to 40 in/hg.

Cheers,

I’ve been wondering this myself. More specifically, has anyone turbonormalized a VW? I realize that’s lipstick on a pig, but a VW is what my airplane is designed around.
