Thanks Phil. My data wire to the autopilot is connected to the TX pin on the HC-06 Bluetooth module and it connects to the Avare app fine.but no GPS data is received by the autopilot. This setup worked when I was using my old ipaq with Anywhere Map. I'm trying to keep it wireless. The TruTrak Pictorial Pilot will track a heading without a GPS source, but I still have to adjust the heading for wind correction. Your system sounds great. I'm going to keep trying for the wireless though. Thank you again.... Dave D

Hi Eugen,

 

I never used the green urethane foam. The fuselage shells were built using ¼” foam (rear shells) and 3/8” foam for the forward shells. They were made using vacuum bagging in female molds. The fiberglass used for those shells was lighter than the 9oz bidirectional fiberglass that is used for wings/bulkheads/fuel tanks.  I am not sure of the weight of that cloth, since the shells were pre-built at the factory. There was one Tri-Q built in Canada without the use of the pre-made shells, so it is possible.

 

All of materials you list below are available from Aircraft Spruce.

I have used the leg bag on long trips with other people in the cockpit than my wife.  Saved my bacon!  There is one thing that you might want to do before  you use the external catheter.  Take a little time to "trim" the "curly locks" down my your "man hood.  It really smarts getting a hair in the catheter when you roll it down!  I know TMI!

If you read the part of the plans about installing the bulkheads, they allow the builder to vary the angle and size of that bulkhead to compensate for pilot size. There is also some variation allowed in the forward/back position of the main tank for the same reason.  I would just suggest rotating the base of the bulkhead backward until it intersects the fuselage. The original plan required a lot of cutting and fitting. The 4 fuselage shells were oversized and needed to be trimmed and there were no marks to help the builder do this, only small drawings. There was a lot of work involved to get a good fit between fuselage and bulkheads. No two of these planes are identical once they are complete.

Yup, that’s right. Do you have a angel between the seat bulkhead top und bottom? Not sure which angle they should? Something else between 130° and 150° maybe?

Very informative.  I plan on getting one for use in my ultralights & Q2. I plan on eventually building & using on some flights a 25 gallon long range tank, giving me about 50 gallons usable fuel for some solo flights.

Tri Q Kit For Sale, Denton, TX

Has fuselage with header tank and split fuselage mod installed, canopy, wing, canard (bottom side glassed, top needs completing, appears all glass to do so is here and pre-cut), fin, cowling, spinner, landing gear (nose and main), wheel pants and fairings, wheels and brakes, tail wheel parts (should you need them) fuel tank, many many pieces and parts which I have not inventoried. Plans are included. Wing rack is not included. Project is located at KDTO (Denton, TX).

I work at the airport so I’m available most days to show the project.  $2400.00
