Sorry I couldn’t’t catch the Zoom meet but I did jump on YouTube! Had a funeral for an “old friend” (who was actually younger than me).
Great job Sammy! Your perseverance is unmatched as well as your speed in rebuilding and airspeed!
Hope to see you in July!

Jay the aircraft I own has a hard landing that damaged the skin of the canard. The previous owner did a repair that isn't to plans and honestly I'm not super happy with. That said it may very well be perfectly fine. I'd rather load test it first to find out than sand it out to redo if not really necessary. That's my motivation for load testing.

Sam's presentation is now on YouTube here:
https://youtu.be/yAqjcTAcHTw The idiot hosting the meeting forgot to hit the record button when Sam started talking (sorry Sam!), but there is only about 30 seconds missing. Otherwise, great job Sam! Interesting airplane. It was great to see all of you attending today. We had 24 people attend live and 17 in the "after party" when Sam was done presenting. I hope you all enjoy these. Send Sam a note if you'd like to show off your plane. It does NOT need to be a flying aircraft - we'd love to see your project in whatever state it is. Paul Fisher (your idiot host for this session!) After this coming event, we will probably go to a once-a-month presentation. If you are interested in presenting your aircraft or project, shoot me an email off-line at sam.hoskins@... and we’ll put you on the list. BTW, there are four of us who are kind of a Zoom steering committee.
We appreciate the positive comments from our first showing with Kevin Bodicker and his beautiful Tri-Q. Several people said they wanted more of a chat format. This session will be similar to the last one, where the moderator feeds the presenter with questions. However, when our 40 minutes is up and the Zoom meeting ends, you may click the same link and reopen the meeting. We’ll un-mute everyone and it will be more of a free for-all chat environment. Re: Short Flight Report
I'm feeling good about building mine with a 13.5 gallon header tank. When I fill it in flight it pushes the cg forward and seems to fly faster. Gives me a nice cushion if the main pump fails. No need for an auxiliary tank. Have not found a downside yet. Cheers, Jay Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE DROID "Richard LaBarre via groups.io" <vt325xi@...> wrote: Not sure. My M20e Mooney has the low boost pump which is engine driven and the high boost pump that is electric ($1000 pump!). I think it’s the same concept. If it was me I’d put two in parallel if you were worried about redundancy. Or add a squeeze bulb. Honestly it’d be nice if you could add a level sensor that would automatically fill the header tank with the pump. And have an alarm that would warn you with plenty of fuel to at least give you the minimum 30 minutes of flight. Although my personal minimums were always an hour of fuel remaining.

Whenever I start my plane and turn on the fuel pump, I always watch the glass fuel filter to see that it refills with fuel, along with hearing the pump run. Also during flight I often look to see the header tank overflow hose has fuel running back to the seat tank.... the hose is clear and I can see the fuel running through it. I've always been confident in my fuel system which is built as in the plans... except I eliminated the squeeze bulb to simplify things. Although the original Facet pump is still going strong, I will consider buying one as a spare piece of equipment. My little pump has pumped over 4000 gallons of fuel through 3/8" tubing so far, without any issues, and I owe it a debt of gratitude.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention. I’m installing a Susanne Somers Thigh Master fuel pump. So there’s at least one vote for the value of the plans specified squeeze bulb.
