I asked Dr Mike Shuck to present a presentation on his calcs for the Epley airfoil and airfoils the he has designed. I think we will enjoy chatting about that. “The need for speed!”

Corbin,

Looking at Chapter 4, the upper 2" and outside 5" baggage opening dimensions are listed as "typical", which leads me to believe there may be some leeway in those dimensions. Note that the middle 10" dimension is fixed:

Q2 Plans, Chapter 4, Page 4

Elsewhere, the plans give 1" as the minimum overlap for structural tapes, so certainly don't leave any less material than that.

Bruce,

I am in Utah working on the Dragonfly and Tri-Pacer. I will pencil in the FOD.

Reserve me a camping spot 20’ X 8’ for my hangout and a hangar spot for an unspecified airplane.

Widening Baggage "Doors" - Any Gotchas?

Corbin <c_geiser@...>

Hey guys,

I would like to make my baggage openings a bit larger.  Just a couple inches wider and maybe 1-2 inches taller.  Any issues structurally with doing this?  I would plan on using a Dremel to cut and sand edges.  Then I would need to figure out a bigger cover for it, of course.

Hello Q-Listers.

We're happy to announce a couple more Zoom Q-Tours are scheduled with a pair of award winning aircraft. Put 'em on your calendar!

July 11, 2020 at 09:00 USA Central Time.  Keith Welsh and his beautiful single place Quickie, flying for over 30 years.

August 8, 2020 at 09:00 USA Central time.  Dave Dugas and his award winning Revmaster powered Q-2.

The Q-Tour response has been great. When we get closer to the date, I'll send out the Zoom meeting link.  If you are interested in presenting your aircraft or would like to request seeing someone else's plane that you may been following, drop me a note at sam.hoskins@...

Thanks all.

Sam

Listers,
This evening I went to look at a Q2 that is for sale.
The plane is located near Postville IA.
Some of the Spring Flingers will remember Keith Kerr.
He had a masive stroke in Feb and only lived a few days.
Now his family would like to sell his plane.
Q2 with revmaster. Was flying and I believe built in IA.
If interested let me know and I will get contact info to you.
They don’t want a fortune, just that it go to a good home and fly again.
Keith didn’t ever fly it, just worked toward that end. I don’t really know what he was working on, or changes he was making.
I hope someone will have interest, and I can help his family.

Hey Everybody!

Still trying to document the history behind our Field of Dreams events, and i still think i have it right.... i'm attaching a couple of pictures here, one of the commemorative T Shirt of the event in Beatrice, showing the 20th anniversary in 2010.  Also, a pic of the commemorative DVD set that i made of the 20th annual event also dated 2010.  That's exactly 10 years ago, so if you add 10 to 20 years,  since this is 2020, you get 30... that's correct, at least in base 10, right???  So unless we counted wrong back in 2010, the upcoming event in September should be our 30th... which is pretty cool!

And Spud, it would be super to see you again, looking forward! And yeah, echo'ing Bruce, Jimmeh and you MC'ing the event would be like old times!

We are a go for "Field Of Dreams 2020"!  Hopefully the Covid doesn't come back and we will forge ahead!  You can find the rsvp to respond and give Imraan, Rachel, Honey Lamb and myself a preliminary count so we can plan ahead.  We are hoping for any kind of experimental to attend and expand our horizons and fellowship!  So tell all your friends and especially pilots that they are welcome and encouraged to join us!
