I got mine in the fuel filler under the door. Mike
Those of you with an outside air temp probe, which location did you choose?

Re: Spring Fling
I really like Red Oak. I landed there in 2011 on my way to Blakesburg antique flyin. Nice turf runway.
Thanks Sanjay for the great report! Washed bugs off of my plane this morning before coming to work. Lots of bugs met there demise on my trip.
Cheers, Jay

Sanjay, Thanks for the fine report of both your trip home and the overview. Saves me from having to post about the weekend. Very glad that you made it home successfully! I remember waiting 6 - 8 hours in Red Oak IA. coming back from FOD in Beatrice. Four of us waiting there, but the others left me on my own, as they departed. I finally made it home by about 7PM, after departing Beatrice at 9 AM. A good experience for you, with the correct decisions made along the way. Stay in touch.

Re: Spring Fling
Hello everyone, I finally made it back to HUF....on Monday. The flight there was excellent and the landing at DEH, while sucked, I learned was the same as for everyone else. Bounce...Bounce...Land. I learned DEH is known for that when windy due to the edies from the trees nearby when landing on Rwy 11 in a crosswind. Once down, the runway was great. We all had good departures, I know because I saw em all as I was the last to leave and Kevin told me mine was good too. I enjoyed seeing everyone, their airplanes and the time we had together. Many thanks to Kevin & Brenda for hosting again...again...and again. The weather gods finally cut Kevin some slack. It was fun seeing familiar Q's and Jay's VERY innovative Jabaru powered TriQ. Thanks Jay for getting it here for us to see. For those who have only seen photos of his plane you are in for a real treat when you get to see it live. And thanks Bruce for explaining just what the Wadlow canard is. As I understand it's the same LS airfoil just w/o the carbon fiber spar. Sounds like it's constructed very much like the GU. Yeah, I may be the last to know but....now I know. No one has said yet but our group of experts, Paul, Kevin, Jay, Bruce & Sanjay help solve a starting problem with a Titan 51D in the hangar next to Kevin's. Sunday involved much testing by Kevin and the owner after everyone had left which led to solving a wiring issue. A big round of applause for Kevin. I delayed the departure home due to a line of storms along the route in IL and gusting winds. Not a lot of time in the Thorp yet but did leave later in the morning when the winds cooled off a bit. Nice flight to DVN (Davenport) for fuel & saw both Terry and Paul. Ran into a HUGE line of severe storms in IL that had redeveloped all across the state and blocked the route home the rest of the day. I put down at the Marshall Co. airport in Lacon, IL for the nite. No hotels, just a couch and a Subway nearby. (town of 2000) Locals told me they had had storms earlier in the day and there was probably not enough of a window between the storm lines to have made it to Terre Haute anyway. When I got home Monday morning my wife told me that we had gotten 4" of rain Sunday evening and the power was out most of the night. I landed on a still wet runway and taxied through puddles on the ramp to my hangar. Water everywhere. Many thanks again to Kevin and Brenda for hosting the Spring Fling. And thank you to all who were able to attend. Till next time. Keith

Re: Spring Fling
Sanjay
I made it back to Detroit safely last night, although it took a bit longer than anticipated. An hour into the flight observed a wall of thunderstorms out in the distance across the horizon, landed at Rockford, IL to wait it out. After 7 hours on the ground, departed RFD (which on the map showed 2 luxurious runways), but at departure time I learned that the favoring runway was closed. Picked rwy 19 to avoid a 2 mile taxi in hot conditions. My first takeoff with rear quartering crosswinds of 14kn in the Q. The flight back to YIP was smooth with tailwinds of ~35kn with ground speeds of 190+, and for a few minutes on the good side of 200mph! After landing, and pulling up to the hangar I learned of the destruction caused on the ground by the thunderstorms, sizable damage at the airport with the fire station building badly damaged, and flipped over a semi-trailer truck at the airport. And no power to open the hangar doors! Spent many hours manually cranking (in place of the motor) to raise the hangar door enough to push the Q into the hangar. It was a fine weekend in Decorah. My thanks to Kevin and Brenda for hosting. It was wonderful to spend some time with old friends, Paul, Kevin, Bruce & Joanne, Jay, Keith, and new friends, Mark who is building a Q in Ohio, and Greg who is working on a dragonfly in Minneapolis. It was a special treat to see Jay's beautiful Q2 for the first time, a wonderful addition to the Q family. Jay's implementation is so chock-full of innovative and clever mods and personalizations, including the split, fwd swinging canopy, the blended exit air vent on top of turtle deck, the non-naca cabin air inlets in the fuselage Canard joints, the radiator air inlets, the elevator trim, and many more. ..and the hand painted Tweety Birds painted on the tail and on all six valve covers. Buried amidst the banter and kidding were gems of aviation and life wisdom, hard to discover any other way. Attached are a few pics from the trip. Thanks Sanjay

Re: Q200 Tampa Bay FL
I have an old email from Paul Spackman talking about flight testing his Jabiru engine. He tested to 250 knotts in a descent. He was in Wyoming & did most of his flying around 8000 feet. This was probably indicated or calibrated, but he didn't specify.

Re: Q200 Tampa Bay FL
Just another picture.
Note the max speed (right upper corner) I ever got N46JP to was in 2015.
256K - 294.6 mph! This was on a trip from the SF Bay Area to my home in Auburn. The plane tightened up, no flutter, smooth ride. Of course “I was going down the hill, going 90 miles an hour, when the chain in my bicycle broke” do da do da. Keep
on buildin’
guys!
Anybody ever had a Q frame go faster? If so, please speak up.
