The only expense was you had to find your own way home. I had frequent flyer miles so getting home was low cost.
We paid by volunteering for years when the EAA B-17 came to Ogden on their tour. So yes worth it.

So far the glass is placed on the fuselage outside of my Q1. The foam for wing and canard is coming already from the supplier. The next steps will be to start up my DIY CNC Foam cutter to produce the parts for wing and canard.
The weight of the fuselage with all bulkheads and AFT top is around 18.6 kg or 41.6 lbs.

I did a flight this morning and landed at 11am.... 95 degrees and 70% humidity. A strong left crosswind with no gusts and a perfect left wheel landing. I like it when a plan comes together. The airport was crazy busy with C-130's, Airlines, and touch and goes... The controller really did a great job keeping everyone apart. Had some rain showing on the ADS-B and darned if it wasn't right there. Because I fly under a Class B, everyone here is running ASD-B out and it's great for seeing traffic. I used to run a ZAON deal and it sucked compared to ADS-B.

At 8:00 min I get the left seat and have the log book entry. No B.S. Bob flew it first while I was hogging the nose bubble. I was very surprised to see him flying it when I crawled out of the nose.
EAA B-17 , Ogden volunteer for years on their tour. We got a repositioning ride from Ogden to Centennial in Co. and we’re on out own to get back.
