That sounds like great fun!  I thought about that when we were headed back from your place, but we were anxious to get home.

Some may have thought you were drones. Sounds like an awsome flight. If you like to fly canyons, we have a hundred natural ones in NM.

LED's noisy... Wow I never thought about that.  The way you run LED's is a switching powersupply that basically is turning them on and off really fast.  That is a huge noise generator.  Yep, an analog powersupply is the way to go, no switching.
I couldn't make the Sat morning event but am waiting for the Youtube recording!  Thanks for doing this Sanjay and Sam... and anyone I missed!

Along with lots of good info, that landing light recommendation is very useful.  (paint stirring stick instrument mount is also quite good!)

I've spent a lot of time testing, troubleshooting, and modifying off-road illumination LEDs. Lots are noisy (RF) beyond belief.  Even KC (what I considered high-end) were hell on my radio.  I had to rip all the guts our and make my own external analog power supply.
Of course, after all the work I put into them, the $500 certified aircraft landing lights started to look pretty cheap. :)

Ok.. so yup, I hear it also... what the heck is a tie fighter? I don't like ties much anyway.. had to wear one all the time in my first Engineering job at Boeing Wichita in the mid 80's (monkey suit too). Every desk had an ashtray and only "the girls" did the data entry/computer stuff. Kinda anal to say the least.

I guess my Frankenbird will keep me from having to battle the dress code if flying to Tampa?

 Anyway..never heard that one before.

Really strange approach so I got the Flight aware map and sync'ed the recorded audio in so you can hear the tower instructions and the Cessna that is following the Tie Fighter!

Hmm. Been there a few times. I was part of the engineering folks working the Goldendale windfarms at the same time I was on Contract at Boeing Everett....and that was several times...beginning back in 1997.  I was in school at Lynnwood and in Arlington Washington in the late 60's/early 70's.  And yes I did see the billboard on I-5 that said "would the last person in Seattle please turn out the lights".

Even though I am originally from Kansas (Wichita) I do know how to say Washington without adding an "r".  Never know, but sometime I'd like to attend Arlington E.A.A. again. Fly-in rather than drive.
