Re: "Field Of Dreams" 2021

Bruce,
Was trying to get hotel info about field of dreams and I’m getting a “404” error message.
Can you repost the hotel info again?
Thanks

Looks like we are about 3 1/2 weeks out for "Field Of Dreams"!!  We just received a brand new shipment of Caps with our logo and pic on them.  They look great and make Honey Lamb look sooo sweet!  We have great weather ordered for the event and expect a large crowd to show up for all the festivities!  Saturday is our monthly Woodring Fly In Breakfast!  There will a lot of folks wanting a close up look of our beautiful airplanes so get out the wax.
Joanne and I always look forward to seeing you all show up every year and this is no exception.  We are sooo pumped!

Thanks Charlie and Gary. I'll order that high performance rocker shaft and see how it goes next time I change the oil and plugs. Looks like they eliminate the clips all together.

Joanne and I just picked up tickets at Stride for $35. Online is $45. Call 580- 616-7380- stride direct line. They will either e mail them or hold them at the door the night of.
Business casual or Period 40's
If you wait until the night of the event they most likely will be “sold out”.

Dave,

Here is your solution to broken wavy springs.

Hi Gary
Thanks for the reply. Fortunately I almost never noticed any vibration. It was one of the spring washers that keeps the rocker arms centered on the valve stem, not one of the clips. Maybe next time that you are working on it you could take a picture for me. Sounds like a solid fix.

Hi Dave,
I lost a rocker arm clip on my Dragonfly years ago, flying from Kentucky to Michigan.  It was on an exhaust valve and the rocker arm was hammering on the valve spring retainer.  Still enough power to stay in the air, but it shook quite a bit.  Landed, was able to find a replacement part, and continued home.  I was able to machine my own spacers and end caps for the rocker arm shafts.  Also the shafts can be drilled and tapped on the ends for the retaining bolts.  No problems in several hundred hours since.  I highly recommend it.

Yep.  We will need to move the aircraft out for the event and then back in afterwords.

Bruce. Is the dance being held in the same hangar that our planes will be?

Looks like a 40's dance at 8 pm.  Before that it looks like perhaps a Vance formation flying into WDG and landing for static set up so the public can look over the Vance special aircraft (probably the special painted dignitary Airforce aircraft,  Only guessing).

We are currently set up for the evening dinner at Cherokee Land and Cattle at around 5 pm so we can come back out to join the festivities before the 8 pm dance

Pilots should be around mid afternoon to pull our planes out for Vance set up.  We can tie down outside until after the dance and the pull them inside over night.  With Vance aircraft and our aircraft static it should prove to be quite an event for everyone to see.  The new young pilots will be "on point" when they see our aircraft line up.
Get em checked out and get em here!  You won't be sorry!  More info on the URL below.

I discovered, for the second time, a broken wavy spring washer on the rocker shaft assembly. Both times the washers were in 2 pieces, and all the pieces were located. The first time it happened I replaced the broken washer with a used one, and ordered a new set along with the rocker shaft clips. While replacing them today I discovered that one more had broken in one spot, so it was still in one piece. All that I noticed in hindsight when flying while the broken washer was still undiscovered, was a very slight difference in the sound. Barely noticeable. So.... I would recommend that once you get up in hours, replace them and the clips. Cheap insurance as I suspect metal fatigue can eventually occur. All good now with the new parts for another 1000 hours. Hope to see everyone in Enid at the FOD reunion. Dave D...1250 hours.
