Re: update

Chris .. Think u are well on the way to 'Legend Status' .. ! and thanks for the update .. u hadn't posted for a while and that made me think you were .. umm.. busy !
As an aside ... i have a TriQ airframe in my hanger ... its original as built .. except for the Canopy . The original Canopy apparently departed the aircraft on route between TX and CA while loaded sideways on Car Trailer .!! Probably not the List to go on about, .. but i luv ur Direct Drive etc set up .. Iv been recently looking at aftermarket Harmonic Balancer options .. appears so far there are 2 main ones .. the Oil filled one and the Mercury Filled one ... could be something to have in mind later if need be ?! Re, Cooling .. i found a BIG difference in Cooling (Water Temp) with Cowling On vs Cowling OFF ... just saw heat dissipation very Great with No cowling and having Prop Blast vs buttoned up ! Looking fwd to next 'Update' ... Graham =========== In Australia ; ) . -------------------------------------------------- From: "Chris Walterson" <dkeats@tbaytel.net> Sent: Thursday, September 02, 2021 6:23 AM To: <main@Q-List.groups.io> Subject: [Q-List] update No, not finished yet.

Rough River 2021 Update 9-1-21
Ryszard Zadow
After this weekend the Lodge restaurant will be TAKE OUT ONLY! We're working on a food truck to be at the airport. Rough River 2021, September 24, 25, 26. The lodge is full. When I checked the other day there were no rooms available. Across the road though is a little place called the St. Claire Motor Lodge. I spoke with them this morning and they have a few rooms left however, I was informed there is a bass fishing tournament that same weekend! St. Claire only has 18 rooms total and maybe 10 left as I type this hurry! https://www.stclairmotorlodge.com/ 270.296.1610 Website Update: The website has this years dates on it correctly, the next few years are a little off but as always, it's the last full weekend in September. It also still has Nicks' name and info all over it. Feel free to contact Nick if you'd like but I'll still answer questions :) We are actively recruiting someone to help manage the Rough River Website. As usual there is no set schedule other than hangin out on the ramp talking about airplanes, flying rides and the meeting in the tent Saturday evening. If anyone has a very interesting topic they'd like to present then please let me know. The "Get You Home" box. Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience is sponsoring a foot locker of spares that might be just what someone needs to get them home. The park has agreed to give us a space to store this box so spares are available year round. So far we have: Nose wheel tire and wheel. Lamb tire, tube and wheel 5 inch tire, tube and wheel. A couple spare spark plugs. REM-40E and REM-38 We'll also come up with some basic tools. Anyone have other ideas or parts they'd like to contribute please let us know. Ryszard

I keep bending my tail wheel pivot bolt. I think I'd change that to an AN4. I've always liked those "Sea Hawkers" or whatever variant that is. Does it fly well? Mike Dwyer Q200 YouTube Videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/FlyMeAirplane/playlists Q200 Website: http://goo.gl/V8IrJF

update
Chris Walterson
No, not finished yet.
Made it out the the airport a few weeks ago and did the assembly. I found out that if the airplane is sideways on the trailer and you go faster than 30 mph, the canopy will open. No damage. I also have a lock on the canopy, but slipped my mind. In the process of tuning. I have the SDS fuel injected system along with a 3 blade carbon fiber Warp drive prop. You need to adjust the prop and then tune the fuel and adjust the prop and tune the fuel until I can see 3,000 static with no turbo boost. With boost and the prop unloaded I should see 4,000 rpm. My cooling system is working very well. May be able to cut down the opening get less drag. Because I have the tail wheel control from the Dragonfly , but the larger Q2 tail wheel, I found it very sensitive taxiing. I modified my control rod and use a few compression spring to help dampen the the feed back. I solved my Forward CG problem by boring a 5/8 hole in the vertical stab. I have the Dragonfly stab and rudder so there is a spar, that I bored down the center of. I took a fourty inch 3/4 inch copper plumbing pipe and filled it with melted down used lead weights from a tire shop. Ended up weighing ten lbs and fit into the hole bored with some persuasion. Filled and glassed the hole and now I have 14 lbs on the tail. I hope to have the final in the next three weeks and then some taxiing. In Canada , after the final we need to send in for out Special C of A, and once we receive this we are okay to fly. It does take up to 8 weeks to receive this so may not be until next spring that I can legally fly. Also have another of Gary Legares creations that I have finally finished after 18 years. We are surrounded by lakes , so it will be very usefull, however I still really like the speed and the fuel burn of the Qs. Hope to have them both inspected this fall. Re: Quickie Tri-Q200 aircraft cover?
Jon Matcho
Thank you all for your responses...
1) Get a hangar. 2) My Q200 may not leak at all (unless it's torrential rain). 3) Covers will eventually leave scratches (I also learned this using microfiber cloths on eyeglasses). Mike, I like your travel cover! John, can you share the brand or a link to your interior window cover? Jon

Re: Quickie Tri-Q200 aircraft cover?
John Hartley
All of my planes, I use a window cover on the inside - keeps the aircraft cool and protected from UV, keeps overly interested folks from seeing pilferable items inside (can't peek around like they could an exterior cover), and most importantly, it is unable to be blown around by the wind or other plane's propwash, like an exterior cover can. The small movements of an exterior cover can cause hazing and little scratches on our pretty canopies due to tiny debris either being in the cover or blown under the cover by wind/propwash. On the Q200, I've never had a water leak problem.

Re: Quickie Tri-Q200 aircraft cover?
Mike Dwyer
The only time I'm parked outside is when I'm traveling. My main concern is keeping water out of the cabin when it sits on the ramp. I use a white bed sheet that's been sprayed with ScotchGuard. I tie the front corners to the sparrow strainers and loop a string between the back corners. Weight = very low. Cost = very low. Space = very little.
