So my not-so-gentle nudging seems to have been received by Bruce. I would gladly host, but hey, even our valleys are above 4000’  😊  Would love to see other places too. Maybe Lynn French is vulnerable to nudging?

Bless you for thinking me “distinguished” Jay!  Hadn’t heard that yet.  When I told my Aunt Hopie, 92 yrs old, that I had grown a beard she said “oh no Bruce, no Bruce, no”!  I haven’t been brave enough to go show it to her yet.  Pray for me!
I gave her a flight to see her sister in Vici, MO a while back!  Had the fire departments at both ends help me get her in and out!  She loved it and got to see her sister as well as her 1st airplane ride!  Is this a great hobby or what!

I think people would probably balk at airports in my mountainous area….but…

My Quickie still knows the way to Enid. That would be an ownership swap of the two events. 😊

I was recently reminded that there is not a Spring Fling planned for this Spring.  Kevin has been gracious enough to pick up the ball for FOD and therefore won’t be hosting Spring Fling this year.

It would be a terrible thing not to have a Spring Fling; it's a long-time tradition that I believe began with Kevin Boddiker 10 years or so ago.  Nancy and I, in the past,  have investigated the possibility of having either SF or FOD in or near Asheville, NC.  Each time we find that the local environment (Western NC, Northern SC and Eastern TN) does not fit the bill.  The bigger airports are towered and some have commercial airlines ( Asheville – 7, plus landing fees for non-locals) which greatly limits spontaneous fights.

The smaller non-towered airports that would be appropriate are in the boondocks; several miles from motels, restaurants and transportation.  Plus they don’t have hangars for our Q’s or anyplace to gather.

All of this is to say, WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE STEP FORWARD TO HOST THE SPRINGFLING???

From what Kevin tells me, there isn’t much to do as far as preparation – give him a call.

I would really like to see you folks this spring.  Jerry Marstall

Hi Mike,
The key thing is to have your standard flying weight loaded into the plane.  Then roll it a bit so the wheels splay out.  Hopefully you can look through the axle hole and pretty much see where it's aiming.  Have a tire and axle on and just pull out the bolt that holds it in.  Then adjust your axle holes so the wheel is straight up and down with some toe out.  It's not super critical.  Over the years the canard gives a bit and the wheels end up not straight up and down anyway.  Over the 36 years I've been flying I've had to adjust the axle holes only once.

I'm going to have to figure out a way to measure the angles with the larger axle holes already drilled out.... I don't think that should be too difficult(?)
What I am wondering though is, if the alignment is out how to I go about moving the hole alignment?
Will I have to build new wheel pants?
Can I do some "surgery" on the existing ones to adjust the alignment?
