As an alternative source, Great Plains also has the aluminum cylinders. But you end up with a 2300 VW engine when you are done. Not sure what you would do with the extra power. :)

Mike I think the J2200 is good for 3200rpm and the J3300 is OK for 3200
continuous.

Mike the Jabiru 2200 is about 20KG lighter than the VW. The4 Jab3300 is
about the same weight as a Revmaster.

In your "save weight ideas" you mentioned a starter. No starter weighs 100%
less than a starter. Plenty of folks hand prop little engines.

I talked to Scott. He said that this is a problem that can show up with any composite gear over time. He said that there was only one choice, other than making a new one:

gear, as he may have different ideas than the contractor who made them.
Its looks a similar item to the Varieze and Longeze

This is true; however, the accident was more involved with the nose gear. If the main had significant involvement, there would have not been destruction of the canopy and tail fin.
