Re: Q1 rotax conversion
I found it useful to install a shut-off valve if I only wanted to use the main tank for short flights. Remember that the fuel guage reading in ground attitude is vastly different than flight attitude;

hello
You need to talk to Pat Panzera or Mark Langford. They know a ton about corvair engines in aircraft. Have a look see at the corvaircraft group . A lot of information there.

Corvair 6 cyl versus O-200
Anyone with a Corvair 6 cyl engine flying a Q?
The weight of a Corvair seem to be slightly less than an O-200 and power seem to be slightly better than the O-200.
Cost seem to definitely be much

We did try with plastic covering the wet epoxy but couldn't peal it without everything coming apart.
Some things actually go better with less helpers and this might have been one of

Re: Any advice for bulkhead type layups
They are disks.
We aren't really building the bulkheads, we are using similar materials attached in a similar way to produce a support that will be similar to the fuselage and bulkheads in the Q2.

Yes, just do one thing at a time - at least until you get some more
experience. Are you familiar with using cellophane, or aluminium foil, for
attaching BID tapes? That was developed a few years

It was a miserable job because we had wet fiberglass on both sides of the clark foam at the same time, plus attachment tapes. Everything wanted to stick to everything, except the fiberglass kept

I didn't understand why you said "it's a miserable job". It's just the
simplest of layups.

Thanks to Sam and Sam (are you guys a type club?) and to Mike.
We were trying to do this as one or two long work day(s) on Saturday; now I think we need to plan on several short sessions.

Yup, but use peel ply on the bulkheads where the tape will be used... At 75F one day cure should work fine. Sam lives in the frozen north where it may take longer to cure!
