I agree it is a good idea to measure the holding force of the captive threads and add that value to your torque setting.
It could have been cross threaded but I really don't believe it was. The

Also MAKE SURE you have not bottomed the threads. I know
you probably already know this, but it happens. When you are finished
torquing everything down you should have 2-4 threads left exposed

You should add the drag to 20 ft/lbs. 3 ft/lbs drag....tighten to 23 ft/ lbs, simple math. I think maybe you could have cross threaded the bolt because the locknuts that I've used are around 3 - 4

Re: Q2 Prop
Hi Rene
Its a 48 pitch, 55" Diameter. Old original was a 45 P, 56D. With the 3-4 lb drag on the locknuts I figured I'd be OK for a couple of short flights with 20 ft/lbs. Just waiting to hear

I'd think twice about the torque value. Guessing is not the best technique.
I don't want to guess either, but that value is less than what I typically
see, but then it is a different prop so you

I drilled and bolted on the prop and am very happy with it. Here are a few early observations.
Static RPM: 3000 RPM. This is just a little less than what it was with the original

Re: EAA, AOPA Announce Plan to Make 'Driver's License Medical' Available to Much Larger Pool of Pilots
This is great news. I think I'll write my congressman on this also. Our 3rd class (private pilot) medicals are now up to $185 here and they are of absolutely no value.
