Maybe I'll load up the fuel and try it in one hop. I just put the trip into
Flyplan.com. Under today's conditions I would have a healthy 26 kt.
tailwind and should do the 827 km in 4 hrs. 47 minutes,

Lotsa tailsprings broke in the early years. This was covered in early newsletters.Speculation was tail swishing on landing due to pilot control (side loads). We didnt hear that problem from Dfly

My experience in over 1000 hrs of several taildragger Qs is that the
original 1/2 inch dia glass tail spring was severely under sized.
I now have a 3/4 inch commercial S glass solid rod

The original tail spring that we had was a solid 'pultruded' rod of fiberglass and resin. There were so many accounts of snapped tail springs from inadvertent ground
