Re: Quickie Q-2 Never Exceed speed
Formally, these speeds are defined by the designer/engineer of the specific airplane.
FAA FAR regulations 23.1505, 23.335, and 23.251 are the formal definitions. These are an excellent starting point

Quickie Q-2 Never Exceed speed
Mike:
When the Q1/Q2s came out, they used like a 18-22hp Onan, and a 65hp VW, toestablish max speeds, with those HP. I have never really understood whatestablishs these max speeds. Later Q1/Q2s have

Re: Max flying Weight
To be clear Jeff, I originally set a gross weight of 1320 lbs for N46JP and have flown my plane that way many times over the years. Yes I have a few dimples in the right side of the canard like Sam

Re: NTSB - Brinkerhuff
Thanks Sam. I hadn’t seen it. There is also this:
http://www.ntsb.gov/AviationQuery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20111006X21257&key=1
which includes a probably cause.
Still sad.

Re: Max flying Weight
Go to Quickheads and get the W&B. I load to 1,200 lbs, but that can induce dimples in the upper surface.

Re: Max flying Weight
Having flown the Tri-Q2 Revmaster 2100 for 300 hours, I would not dream of taking two 250lb'ers (assuming you can both get into it). I don't know what density altitudes you see where

Re: Max flying Weight
So two 250lb guys can fit in? Going to be a tight fit.
I think one danger is the canard stress in a hard landing or taxiing and hit a bump. The canard sees the equivalent of 4Gs when sitting in

Max flying Weight
Can someone help shed some light on this question?
How heavy can a Q-2 fly with the LS-1 wing? I have heard 1100 gross, but has anyone gone over that? How much over?
Is the quickie like many other

Propellers
Does any one have much experience with propellers trials on the q-2 with the revmaster 2100? I ordered a props inc 56 x 42, in Mahogany. Does that sound like a good choice?
