There was a guy working on installing an electric motor in a Q1 (I think it was a university project) a few years ago. He had it in Tehachapi. Not sure if that was ever finished and/or is still there.

My son is currently looking for a Q1 that is flying or close to it and needs some work. He would like it for some testing of a new engine being developed locally. Anyone have one they would let go

I assume the distance from the left case half to the right case half plus you would need to drill that 4” or so distance to the right case half and then stop before you drilled into the right case

Jim, I would not have relished Dr. Steve's position landing on that short of runway, with obstacles at both ends without an airbrake. Do you know what the runway length was? Is he still flying
