Very intriguing Brad, but I think the placement of the flying surfaces is problematic since the elevator on the canard is what rotates the aircraft to takeoff attitude, and for your design to sit on

Jay,

That's the first nose wheel view I've ever liked.
I'm convinced its because the wheels are still on the ends of the wings, a feature that drew me to the look of the Quickie.
Looks cool Brad. It will

Re: Wing load testing and max weight
Jay,
My main point I was trying to make is the spar can take more deflection than the glass shell without reaching failure. This puts the first failure as compressive buckling of the top glass skin.

If you build the LS1 canard per factory specifications, load the airframe to max gross (say 1,350 lbs.) put you, a real fat guy and full fuel in it, etc. and taxi around for awhile, you will

Thank you gentlemen. I would be most interested in what was worked on and perhaps
the resolution will be more Q kits that were parted out as mine was getting completed,
or groundloop accident project

All true.. what is being thought of as gasoline melting foam from leaks is not always the cause.
Tube spars, like flagpoles, are well known structures. Rutan worked with Jim Bede at what was

I will see if I still have a copy. I did turn all that over to Tony Warnock with everything else Q related we had.

Richard, do you have drawings for that canard? I'd like to put them up on the files section of the Q list.

Re: Wing load testing and max weight
Actually there was another option on the LS1 for the spar and build that was not a QAC design. We did do load and twist test with it back when we were trying to bring these planes back to a production
