Re: Removing Engine with Tail Off - Support Recommendations
Here's Jerry's setup. It folds up when not in use. For removing the engine, I recommend a Harbour Freight engine hoist with the optional leveling

Will do.....but is that the PVC structure to hold the tail? If so, I built that last summer and the tail is on it now. If something else then I will check the blog.

Re: GPS Dimension
A single 10.5 landscape screen will just fit yop to bottom with decent edge distance. I have a cad drawing based on the one from the q-list archives. It fits inside the edges well although slightly

Jim,
Not sure I’ve had it long enough to test it thoroughly. I have it under the glare screen so it usually doesn’t see direct sunlight. All it takes to remove it from the harness is push one

Hi; I’m buying a Q2 soon, and intend to put in a basic Autopilot like the TruTrak I put into my late Lancair.
May I ask what will work for the Q2?
Am impressed with the aviation quality of the group

Re: GPS Dimension
Thanks Bruce. That’s what I though. How well does the 660 work in a hot cockpit in direct sunlight. Does it ever get hot and shut down like an IPhone?

Re: Removing Engine with Tail Off - Support Recommendations
That makes complete sense, I am still running the little B&C 12 amp, but I wired it so that the 30 amp could pop straight in if it was needed.
Good luck with it.

Jim
I assume the 496 power cord is the same as the 296. If so the 660 is a total different animal. But with only 3 wires to hook up it is a piece of cake.

Hi Dave,
I thought I would wait until the dust settled but you did an admirable job saving the airframe. Thats one of the reasons I don't like taking long trips and possibly stranded several states

Put a foam block under the federate at the split. Easy and will work fine.

Hey Rich, the alternator itself is fine but he would like to run better wiring to/from it along with the new wiring with all the other avionics work going on.

Re: Removing Engine with Tail Off - Support Recommendations
Corbin,
I raise the tail high enough to get support under the main part of the fuselage. Then brace the engine just behind the prop. Then remove the tail. This works and will allow you to work inside
