Great report Jay. I have had that exact feeling many times. It always makes me wonder "why doesn't everyone fly?". Doing it in a vehicle that you built yourself just makes it all the better.

Re: Q200 Prop
Thanks, I'll wait for a fitting prop, unless my lack of patience gets the better of me and I'll go for a new Catto one, at the ideal size.
Thanks Robert

Re: Q200 Prop
This is pretty simple. A standard 0200 uses a 2 blade 60/66 to 60/70 prop for best performance . A pumped up 0200 uses a 2 blade 60/72 to absorb the added HP, which leaves about 9" of clearance with

Hi Robert,
That prop would work, but your plane will go slower, albeit cruising with much better fuel efficiency. The bigger problem is that your static RPM will be much lower than it really

Re: Q200 Prop
Wow that was a terrible spell error on my part ... I meant to say Prince recommends a 58/70 prop. So back to my original question ... the 60/80 prop won't work for the 100hp, correct?

Re: Q200 Prop
What I sent you from Prince indicated that 70 pitch is what they recommend. This is more in line with most of the Q200’s that have flown regularly and for the long haul.
Cheers,
Jay

Re: Q200 Prop
Given Prince recommends for a 100hp Q-200 a 85/72 prop, would this one be way too big?

Sadly it is not. The current owner had not flown it in a couple years. I contacted him and asked if we could buy it back and he is considering. He is not ready to give it up yet.

Re: Q200 Prop
Thanks Jay! Yes, that TAS checks out fairly close. I remember a long cross country where I had 173 kts true but up at 11,500ft.
Good info there so thanks for sharing!
