Re: Brake Lines?
In my project I will like to upgrade the brakes, any one know if we can put something similar to Cessnas? Is it necessary to change the structure or alter it?

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
The smaller Chen Shing 11:00x4:00/5 we now use is a ribbed tire. They are 6/8 ply and last a lot longer than the originals. The only problem is, the tube Spruce sells has an angled brass valve stem

Rutan standard was Nylaflo brake lines, sometimes with metal lines (or a metal reinforcement) just on the brake end to avoid melting the plastic under heavy braking. So that copper you are seeing may

Sounds like someone performed the Yates mod...something I've thought about doing myself. Might even be you have Robert or Terry's old plane??

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
I’ve replaced one of them with the same size/tread but I think I had to grab a different manufacturer. I’ll check tomorrow or Friday.

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
There’s a chance it will all be done this time next week. Then I need for my conditional to be done and he is not avail until mid to late June. So I may just be able to do some run ups and taxi

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
Hi Corbin
Seems like correct answer to tire pressure.
Won’t even need Keith’s 22nd-century space-coveralls. 😊
Just kidding.

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
I don’t use tire stem covers at all. Like others, I rarely need to air them up/down and when I do I use the access hole to screw on an attachment to air up. I would not be able to unscrew a stem

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
Can confirm that the large hole+Rube Goldberg valve stem extender(s) contraption is still a PITA for all the reasons mentioned above. I don't have enough room to roll the fwd fuselage around, so I end

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
I have to do the same with those smaller tires, Sam. The brass innertube valve stem is at the wrong angle for the aluminum wheels we have. I thought is was just me.😬

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
Here's the thing. On my wheels at least, the valve stem doesn't point straight out. In fact, when filling air on my bench I often have to wedge a screwdriver behind it so I can get the air hose on it.

I have the same philosophy as Sam on the tire thing. I don't have a hole in my wheelpant either. I just see how they look during the preflight. Mine are inflated to 30 lbs. to start with. If they look

Re: Q2 Brakes and wheel mounts
I have one like that, Mike. Tricky part is that the hose has to be exactly parallel with the stem to seal got pressure reading and filling. That is hard to do if you don’t have some wiggle room to
