Happy New Year
This is the view from my hangar today. Blue skies, but I don’t think I will be flying my Quickie. Happy new year to you all.
Cheers,
Jay

Pleasant to read your comments to one another in the group, and your joy in flying.
Hope to join in as soon as I get the brakes moved to the rudder pedals.
Happy New Year.

New Years Flight
There isn’t any!!
6°F. Windchill -6°. Doesn’t make any difference what the wind direction.
Doesn’t look good for the next 15 days either.
The good news? The hanger rent is due!!!

Bearings are sized for hardened precision ground stock , tubing tolerances are not compatible with bearings.

I looked in my old emails, I think the bearing is 6202 2rs 5/8 bearing. Plug that into Amazon or just go to your local Fastenal dealer.

Re: Axle Removal Problems
No.
The axle should probably be 0.003 - 0.005" less than the ID of the bearing. You can easily look up the specs for the bearing, the PN is probably right on it, I don't have it here at home. It

Thanks Sam. Is your axle also .615" OD to match the installation tool?

Re: Axle Removal Problems
Agree with Sam on just turning the existing steel tube down to fit the standard bearing ID.
Also, several years ago, I started the practice of coating bare steel parts with spray-on PTFE

Corbin, find a metal lathe and take a couple thousands off of it. Then you can use the standard bearing.

Axle Removal and Wheel Maintenance might make for a good Zoom Call tutorial. Maybe the major best practices tips could be illustrated.

Re: Axle Removal Problems
Those bearings are really common. You can get them make McMaster-Carr or Fastenal.
Whoever made that pusher tube should have cut the diameter down. You could have it 0.030" less than the axle

I currently have the keeper bolt with washer as well; to keep the axle in place. I went by a machine shop today and he said my axle is a high quality alloy.
For fun, here’s a pick of my pusher rod
