Re: 0-200A Vacume pump drive
I pulled the O200A parts catalog and found a "Cover, Vacuum Pump" PN 628018 that is very much like I built. It looks like the vacuum pump drive is an accessory cause the parts manual for the engine

Peter,
I think that you may have missed my point, I don't put much store in
TAS. The Ottawa info is not TAS but actual ground speed. I know
that there are other Q's that are faster than mine. Jim

Hi Mike,
I have not see the inside of the engine around the suction pump. Gary said that the pump comes off easily but the gear that drives the pump stays in place. That gear is not so easy to take

Four nuts and off comes the whole vacume pump drive gear. I built an aluminum plate to cover the hole. Maybe saved a pound or two?

There is a cure for that problem, The Aerobat 0200 has an extended ½” pipe
elbow that sticks into the case about 1.4” further. I just drilled out my
elbow for ½” copper pipe and silver

Jeff, don't worry - I'll use a low amp fuse and live with the consequences. I expect to do a load of taxiing before flying - should shake down the systems anyway. As you say, this is not a critical

Hi Dave,
The oil exits the crank case breather at around 3100 rpm but only if you take off the gyro suction pump and leave the gear that turns it. The gear becomes a small turbine and sends the oil

Re: Props
Hi Peter,
I recall an fall fly-in where Bruce Crain learned something about
extended higher rpms on an O200 where he got a good amount of oil
ejected from the engine that wrapped around the fuselage.

Peter - If you give up the Dia. for more pitch and keep the rpm the same, don't you loose climb? I have been wrestling with this and would like comments.

The category of these batterys is AGM, they are sealed lead acid but not like regular lead acid batterys. I use one similar to the 1170 but don't use an auto battery charger on this thing! I did
