Re: Deep Stall
Steve,
If deep stall occurred, the ailerons may not be effective, but the rudder
might be. I say might be because the stock rudder may be masked by the wing
at high AOA.

more on VG design
Please let me elaborate on the logic for my VG design.
The reason for the GU canard VG design by QAC is to reduce the tendency of the airfoil to lose lift in rain and bug contamination.

Re: Deep Stall
Jamaes,
Probably others also will point out that the ailerons on a stalled wing are ineffective... which is why tyro pilots are told to use rudder to keep the wings level when approaching a stall.

John,
I might add that my initial flight tests are at 3 feet then at 10 feet.
This is to establish that the flying surfaces have balanced lift and are
stable. My high AOA tests are at altitude.

Actually, it is improbable that one could stall the total wing. Most airplanes are designed to stall the inboard portion first, and have the ailerons outboard. Back 40 years ago, when I was studying

That is an interesting point James and I wonder if it could support an application for our ultralight class. John Tenhave what do you think ?

The ponk calc looks OK as a rule of thumb and according to the math 56" diam is about right but need heaps of pitch for efficient operation at 100hp 200mph and then less than 3500rpm.will do

Re: Useful load
Larry,
Second thoughts on this statement. Why didn't that happen for the
Dragonfly? It has tons more wing area, and yet still has a high stall
speed, as evident by the discussion on the Dragonfly

photoshop and print them on larger paper. (I'll be sure

Hi Mark,
Unless they have a reference dimension on them, they're not of much
use. The same goes for photocopies of the originals. Even the
originals themselves may have changed shape after all these
