Very nice workmanship, Dave. Your chamfered vent tube is the same as that used on Piper Cherokees, a proven design that eliminates the potential for a liquid block in the line. How do you like your

On the dragonfly we have the header tank vent coming out of the top of the header and curving down to vent under the belly.
On the Q I am building I am using 1/2 tubing for the overflow vent. On

The engine stoppage on mine had nothing whatsoever to do with fuel issues. It was all about overheating a liquid cooled engine too many times. The fuel vent worked flawlessly on both the

Regardless of where the probe is located, I think it best to have it terminate down the overflow tube inside the header tank (per plans). We had the probe on the bottom, terminated inside the fuel

Mine is the same as Sam's - on the bottom 5 or so inches below the fuselage just aft of the spar. Although I've only got about 1,650 hours on mine, so I defer to Sam's experience! ;-)

My vent comes out of the bottom, per Q-200 plans, sits about 5" below the fuselage, just aft of the spar. Served me well for 2,000 hours. Naturally, everyone else's mileage may vary.

I have two header tank vents. One under each side of the canard. If one gets plugged, the other prevents me from having a vacuum lock. Periodically I blow into each of them to make sure neither is

Aeronca Champ has used the forward facing vent on the gas cap, just in front of the glass for about 80 years or so. Seems to work fine, probably per Charlies comment on a high pressure area just
