Re: Engine Work
I found that with a carbureted O-200, at wide open throttle, you can burn about 10 gallons an hour.
Fuel injection can bring it down to 6 or 7 gph.

Mike,
How did the old rings look? Any broken? Did you replace them all? What about the valves? Did you have any burnt?

Engine Work
Hi Guys,
My engine was burning around 3 hours per quart but excellent compression so I bit the bullet and decided to top it. I honed the cyl, lapped the valves and put her back together. Today with

Re: Main Wing Tips
I forgot how much fun it is carving the larger fairings with the orange flotation billet foam... I'm having a ball so far. I do like the suggestion of automotive lights in the tips with a strobe on

Pretty much. Pick a design that you like and go with it. I used 2 Bid to cover and 3 in the area that was thin as I made shear tips. I also installed a simple automotive light socket into the foam

Brewski,
Good news!
If we have enough room, you can stay with us.
Paul and Terry usually do. Jerry, Sanjay, Hardie, Lynn, and others have.
Glad you will be attempting to join us.
Now for good

Spring Schling!
Hey "Special K" I have been switched (not literally silly) by the choir director and my solo is changed to a different weekend! I may also be able to get a "Kitchen Pass" for the "Spring Schling"

Re: Main Wing Tips
Yes I did use flox corners. I also embedded a piece of aluminum in the foam with nut plates on the back to accept the screws for strobe/position lights, and then covered with two bid.

I asked a question about wingtip optimization to Jim Bede at an OSH forum once. He told me how Steve Whitman tested wingtips: 1. Come up with a design, 2. Mount it on one side only, 3. Depending on

Re: Main Wing Tips
Thanks Sam -
Yup, it does look that simple - probably easier than any of the other ones. I'm thinking a couple of BID tapes on the top and a couple of BID tapes on the bottom, overlapping

Re: Main Wing Tips
It's easy. Just glue on a block of foam with two-part foam and carve away. Fancy up-swept or plain Jane, I don't think it has much affect on performance.
The trickier part is the mounting for the tip

Second Flight
Second flight completed this AM. Put over an hour on the plane. Added some tail weight to bring it more in the center of the CG range. Much more stable. Cooling seems adequate. Oil never peaked
