Yes I would be going with an EFI system which reduces much of the back engine stuff, not totally away but much less. Engine mount would change anyhow because it currently carries an AeroVee. And fuel

Are you considering any of the alternatives? You need to convert much of the firewall forward anyway and you might consider a modern approach to power.
I know the airframe in question and measured

Re: Looking for an O-200 ... Referrals Much APPRECIATED
The main difference is the fuel system, header tank, engine mount, cowling/air inlet, and firewall “magneto cutout.” But it depends on what you will have mounted to the back of the engine. I think

Robert must be an engineer because he answered the question but missed what the question actually was. So the GU airfoil was used on the first Q2's. The internal construction had a fiberglass spar

Robert, my concern looking at that project from a bodyman perspective is the one big giveaway I see, that is the moss and mould on the outside. Granted some of that is just plain old dirt and tree

The early Q2’s with the GU were sensitive to moisture or bugs contaminating the airflow and reducing lift of the canard. Quickie went to the LS1 canard in response. Later GU builders found that

That is an LS1 canard (carbon fiber spar). I does look a little sad in its current condition. If you get it for next to nothing. May be worth a shot, but do be careful.

Oh it will definitely be looked over well. As far as the firewall, from what i understand will need some work anyway for the change in powerplant. Yes its outside, but its in a well shaded area so

Thanks Terrence, I saw your plane on Barnstormer. I am looking to create a modern version with glass cockpit etc so I'll keep looking but I appreciate the outreach.

Robert, I have a Q200 for sale. It has about 600 hours on the airframe, and a low-time Jabiru 3300 120HP Gen 3 engine. I bought it last year, and found I cannot get hull insurance because I am 92

The plane has an AeroVee engine on it that needs to come off but the plane was never finished so it needs a lot of work no matter. Does that answer your question?
Thanks for the tip,
