Wobbly Brake Disc
Installing my newly assembled brake calipers, I found out all my wheel/brake cylinders are wobbly, or not straight. It seems the discs are actually flat but what do I know? Just me? New all? Pray not! |

From: Keith Welsh <kw544@...> To: main@Q-List.groups.io Sent: Thu, Mar 16, 2023 10:34 am Subject: Re: [Q-List] YES!! Springfling I just talked to the Holiday Inn Express.
They will honor the same rate as last year at $99.99 / room.
Reserved are 5 double bed and 5 single bed rooms.
The cut off date is May 5th. After that unreserved rooms will be released (same as last year). Late arrivals will be accommodated as rooms are available.
Cancels are the same as last year, the day before if wx affects arrival plans.
And the GREAT news is ... all rooms are new!! The hotel, built in 2011, just completed a total renovation of all the rooms.
Rooms can be reserved by calling 812-234-3200. Tell them you are with the Quickie Aircraft Group.
So I can keep track of registrars please let me know so I can have an idea of the number.
I can also reserve the business center like last year if anyone wants to do a program like Mike did and is where we will have lunch again as well.
That's all I know for now.
Thanks again for your interest.
Keith

I didn't chime in earlier due to the several who showed interest last year and I honestly hadn't given it much thought.
But...as things go...here we are.
So, how about the first weekend in June again?
That appears to be an open weekend for us and the airport and maybe the wx gods can do an encore like last year but this time
extend that forecast farther North to include DEC and East to Asheville. Wouldn't that be nice!
So officially, I would like to invite any and all Q'ers of the Q-brotherhood to a weekend at KHUF in Sunny Terre Haute, IN from 1-4 June 2023.
I'm waiting to hear back from the Holiday Inn for reservation info. Not much will change except for the color of the T-shirts
and yes Jerry I'll remember to get another box of Oreo's.
I will pass along reservation and any other info as I get em.
Thanks, Keith

This week I looked at my list and figured by the end of March I am ready for airworthiness inspection. So I call my DAR who points me to the AWC website to file when I notice I missed a step … Registration.

Re: Cowling Fasteners
Really like the SkyBolts but doing the math both SlyBolts and Camlocs run $300 bucks for a full set … ouch!
Anyone using Dzus? They seem more cost riverine yet also allow me a quicker access to the cowling, especially the top. -- Robert "TheFrisco" Schmid (408) 805-5450 www.facebook.com/TheFlyingFriscos www.theflyingfriscos.com Love building planes almost as much as flying. I used Skybolt for mine. I think that the count for RV7 had the right count for me.

Chris Walterson
If you have patience and a good command of profanity you can use the piano hinge like on the RVs and Glasairs, but , I have lost half my hair installing them on my Glasair cowl. For cost and a significant difference in time, I would stick with the plans. On my other airplane I have probably had the cowl off a thousand times in the thirty years and they are still doing the job.
Nutplates , stainless countersunk screws and washers. Couple hrs and you are done.----------- Chris -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. www.avast.com |

I used camloc fasteners. I have them spaced about 6” around the cowling. Seems to work fine. I have been flying for 5 years (300 hours) now and have had no problems.
