Re: Question-
Chris, As you may know, I had to build a new canard for my Q-200 200 a couple years ago. Even the second time through, I found the plans quite confusing because the Q-200 plans kept referring to the Q2 plans, and back and forth. I took extensive notes as I built the new canard and many many photos. Working with Dan Yeager, I have put this together as comprehensive addendum and I encourage you to take a look at it. It's available on the Quickheads site as a free download. I really suggest you print the whole thing out and use that it also has extensive documentation on how to perform the Gall Wheel Alignment properly on the workbench, as you install your wheelpants. My plans addendum is for the taildragger version with the CF spars. If you are building the trike I imagine quite a bit of it would still apply. Sam Sent via wireless Gizmo.

Question-
Chris Walterson
I am staring to build the Q200 kit I have had forever, so I will be asking some questions, that may seem silly, but please bare with me. Hot wiring is all done.
The CS 18 foam insert for the elevator hinge is high density foam. With the kit I have some green foam that doesn't appear to be very dense. Is the 1 inch 8 lb high density Last- A - Foam urethane polyester from ACS the one I need? I am also installing a different engine and have some of the Continental parts. Mount bushings , headers , cables . oil pressure and temp gauges. If anyone is interested, give me a private email. Located in Norther Ontario Canada, so may be a bit for shipping. Take care------------ Canada Chris

Quickheads and kit for sale...
plumberben@...
Hello all, been lurking a while on the list. Finished my Just Aircraft SuperSTOL last year, and am now looking for my next project. I really like the Q's and m leaning heavily that direction. I have had intermittent problems with the Quickheads website, and have had no luck receiving a reply from administration about it. Any one else having problems? Anyone know how to contact the administrator (I tried through the "contact us" link on the webpage a couple different times, but no response)
Also on my question list, There is a Q200 listed in the classifieds on Quickheads in Nebraska. Quickheads website will not allow me access to his contact information, through some very very light detective work, I have tried to contact the seller though facebook, but have not gotten a reply, but since I am not a detective (I can't even figure out what to give my wife as a Christmas present!) I am not certain I sent it to the right guy. I dont even know if its still for sale, sold, etc, as I was listed a while ago. It is listed under LJFrench as a seller. Are you on here? Does anyone know him, or have contact info for him? Anyone know the fate of this project? Thank you for any help you can offer folks. Best, Ben Schneider Just Aircraft SuperSTOL N45FT Flanagan, IL

Sorry your relaxing fly-out was spoiled by more weather - FL doesn’t need any more tropical storms after Irma. :^(

Flight Report
The plan this morning was to fly to the Winter Haven Florida KGIF flyin. The weather wasn't supposed to move in until late afternoon. A tropical storm is spooling up south of us. The morning was 72F, high clouds, light winds. The most direct route there was over the Tampa Airport. I asked for a class B clearance and 2500'. On the climbout Tampa told me to go to 3500'. I figured out why, a Cessna was coming over Tampa the other way at 2500'. The Q200 performs well at these cool temperatures. Lots of times I'm flying at 90F! My APRS track is here: APRS LINK We got to the Fly in and met a bunch of nice folks. A Lancair 0-360, Long Eze, Waco Cabin model, Stearman, and the usual RV's and such. Many nice planes to look at. Had a great lunch. Wanted to poke around but overheard someone talking about the weather getting bad at Sarasota so I checked the radar on my phone. Darned if the weather isn't going to crap there and heading for my home drome. Sorry to eat and run but... You can see from my APRS track that I was boogying home. Was at high power but not full power and at one point showed 198 mph over the ground. It was a fun day even so. Made it home and landed behind a Challenger Jet. Most everything is working in the plane altho my EGT/CHT unit seems to have gone belly up. Need to change the oil this week anyway. Fly Safe, Mike Q200 N3QP

Re: Wing tip caps
Try to make em out of something lighter than air that will also introduce less drag than what you now have for wing tips. I’ll try to send some picks of my 2 pound swoop-tee-doos.

Re: Trying a different method
Thanks Jim. I know Kevin was only half kidding. Still, my attitude is improving each day when I count down what I have left to do as a ratio of what I have already done. My build log summary is at 3300 hours right now, so if I end up matching your effort at 4000, you are probably about right on the calendar remaining.
Cheers, Jay

Re: Trying a different method
Jay,
Unfortunately Kevin is right. Keep on sanding! I had about 4000 hours into mine when I took it to the airport ready to fly! Only took about one more year to realize that dream. 😜 Jim Patillo N46JP Q200

Stand up comedy is not your strong point, Kevin...At least not from my perspective. The tunnel exit is getting larger and larger :-)
