Questions on elevator assembly for Tri-Q200
Mike Evans
It's been fairly quiet on the forum lately - guess this is a good time to throw out some questions!
One of the tech counselors suggested that I put a sleeve over the elevator tube so that the tube wall doesn't wear out. I took a closer look and realized that the wall of the embedded tube is actually 0.170 inches thick. Has anyone on this forum ever had an experience with the elevators getting sloppy due to whole elongation at the elevator root? Also, I believe Dan had a problem removing his elevator (long storage, I believe) due to corrosion. What does everyone think about putting a little grease on the joint where the two tubes (steel and aluminum)connect at the elevator root? Lastly, Have there been any good upgrades to the elevator trim system? Or does the plans approach work fine with the two springs? I didn't get any hardware with my airframe, so does anyone have any specs on these springs? Mike Evans, Tri-Q200 building more quickly

Re: Space Shuttle Flight Report
millenniumflier@...
Actually, Kevin, we all get two more shots at it... yes, NASA is closing down the shuttle program, but STS-134 is scheduled for launch in April, that's the mission with Mark Kelly as commander... his wife is Gabby Giffords, the Congresswoman who was shot in Tucson.? Given Gabby's amazing recovery so far, he has been cleared to stay on as commander of that mission, and preparations are going forward.? And it looks like Congress will fund one LAST mission, dubbed STS-135 for later this year... so at the least, we all get one more shot at experiencing a shuttle launch, and quite possibly two.? Mike D., i ENVY you being in the air and seeing that!? I'd LOVE to get to the Cape for one of these last launches!

I decide to stay near the west coast of FL and am showing 90 NMI from the launch pad, but the air is clear blue, perfect. Then I hear that they got a 1 minute window to get off hold... They release the hold and start a 5 minute countdown, the stabilizing arm on the shuttle has been removed... They are going to go! I get the camcorder ready 3 2 1 and a few seconds later the shuttle pops out of the Haze and cloud layer. Got to watch it for about 30 seconds as the red fire out the backside makes a thick white trail across the blue sky. Very nice. Well worth firing up the plane to check it out. It's about a guy going from cow puncher in the early American West, to flying over the trenches in WWI. First as an observer, and finally as a pilot. He is credited with 23 confirmed kills, including 1 he shot down on his first time flying as an observer. What I found most incredible about that is that he was attached (as a buck private) to a Unit of Army Truck Drivers earlier that morning! His first hand account of breaking wild horses is pretty incredible also, and made me literally laugh out loud in several places. A lot of his stories reminded me of how I was as a young man. He died in 1970, and his memoires weren't published until 2000! What an incredible treasure. I wish he were still around to talk to. Here's a link to the book on Amazon in case you're interested: http://tinyurl.com/4rhdfae Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks for listening. Hi Guys,
Dr. Steve's wife has decided to sell Steve's airplane. Brad Baerg and myself are helping her sell it. I've posted it with a few pictures on quickheads.com. If anyone is interested shoot me or Brad an email direct. It's a very nice flying Q2 that has a new Revmaster on it (less than 100 hours since new). Very nice panel. $15000.00 I'll also be posting Dr. Steve's Jabiru 3300. Comes complete with all accessories and has less than 200 hours on it. It did have a significant prop strike and will need dismantle/inspect. Asking $8000.00 Thanks Rene Q2 C-GTCA ________________________________ From: John Loram <johnl@...> To: Q-LIST@...
