Insurance quotes liability only
Hi Jerry, Maybe you could ask for hull insurance of like $1000 or so, then it would be a real cheap add on. I don’t think Signature is in the business of telling you what your plane is worth. Cheers,

My liability component was cheaper than that, but when I said, lets drop the hull insurance, they said "no, it’s a package deal", so I suspect that you may have trouble beating about $1000 per year. A

Cowling Fasteners
I used camloc fasteners. I have them spaced about 6” around the cowling. Seems to work fine. I have been flying for 5 years (300 hours) now and have had no problems. Cheers, Jay

No Springfling?
We could have it at my home field. 2600’ of cracked pavement, taxiways too narrow for Q2 taildragger gear, high altitude, mountains on all sides and spring snow! Any takers? Cheers, jay

Kevin, You’re a good man! I will be there, God willing of course. I wanted to be a “Waukon” on my college basketball team, but the Illini wouldn’t have me…something about not being able to hit a jump

Words of Advice from Burt Rutan

Hi All, This note from Burt Rutan popped up on the Canard Forum, in response to a discussion about Mike Melvill’s original Long-EZ, which was donated to a museum. Burt probably has the most experience

Accurate, to Scale Baffle Drawings?
Let me know if you don’t get what you need and I can scan the original plans sheets at full scale. Even better, Phil ( if you’re listening) bought my original O-200 engine and I think I gave him my QA

Possible fuselage damage
For piece of mind, read pages 17-20 of this document. Straight from the RAF horse’s mouth: http://n8wq.scheevel.com/documents/RAF_composite_education_section_from_Q2Plans.pdf Cheers, Jay

I would agree with you Rick, except that having worked chunks of that foam in scraps I cut off of the shells, it is clear that it is more elastic and resilient than the stock urethane white foam sheet

I agree with Martin. If you have some light cloth (like 5 oz BID), that should be all you need after filling with micro. Make sure you clean and burnish around the fill. Those shells had some serious

Not really my design, Vern. I see some distinct mechanical and critical stress problems, but I don’t have the energy to critique it right now. Cheers, Jay
