Headsets
I love my 30 3Gs from Lightspeed. Very effective units in the Q-200. The
company stands behind their product, also. Phil Lankford |

I've used Lightspeed 25XL headsets for a while and am about to purchase
a couple new Thirty G's. Anyone got any experience with them? Jim Patillo N46JP Q200 |

I originally bought the 25XL's and loved them so much I later bought the Thirty G's when they came out. Unfortunately, my 30 G's have been sent back twice. The first time I had audio cutting out intermittently in one ear and they fixed that under warranty. The second time I asked them to test the units to see if they could find any reason why they were not as quiet as my 25XL,s - they said that on most aircraft they should perform better. We ended up putting the 25XL battery box and ear seals on the units - no charge. Lightspeed is very good to work with. If possible see if you can borrow a pair to test to make sure they perform better. Maybe my pair was just a lemon. On the other hand, had I not be using a pair of the 25XL's - I would not have known any different. LF ----- Original Message -----

Lynn,
Did that solve the problem? Because the ear piece is different I was wondering if the louder noise in the cockpit would be a problem. Were they noisier from the get go or did that develope over time? I've dealt with Duane at Lightspeed for several years now. You are right they are great people to work with. I used the 25XL for a while and traded up to the 30G last year; and there is NO comparison. The 30 is so far ahead of the 25XL you would think they were a different breed. neil Jim Patillo wrote: I've used Lightspeed 25XL headsets for a while and am about to purchase |

The 30 G's have had a higher mid range type of roar from the get go that the 25XL's did not. In my opinion, the ear seals on the 25XL's are better and make the most difference. However, they are still not quite as good as the 25's regarding the background roar (ANL works fine). Lightspeed said they would do some sort of exchange for another set of 25XL's if I wanted to. Unless I could borrow a pair from someone else to verify that the performance is better, I would buy another pair of 25XL's. Maybe they could send you a pair conditionaly upon the fact that if they were not sasifactory in your plane you could send them back for a pair of 25's. The 30'Gs do have a different noise reduction vs frequency curve that may not work as well in our aircraft.Just a thought. I would interested to know your outcome. LF ----- Original Message -----

Jim,
I've got the Thirty Gs and have had them for2 years. They are very comfortable even with glasses on, because of the soft earcups, I guess. You'll love em...don't lend them out, you might not get them back! Merry Christmas.
