Update on Jim Masal . . .

kfly@...

Thanks Dan for letting us all know.

I don't know how much y'all know about pacemakers but I can tell ya what my heart doc said to me.

I had a reason to see the heart specialist recently due to a slow heart rate as well, have known about it a few years, then went through a dizzy, sweaty spell while driving a few months back, not good.

After the stress test and all, my heart rate went down to 40 while on the table, doc told me I might eventually be a candidate for a pacemaker.  All disappointed and down he said "Oh don't worry about that, I just wish all heart conditions could be as easily treated".  He said the pacemaker is a miracle.  Once in, life goes on as normal.  Batteries will last 12 or more years now a days and they're maintenance free.  Said he would put em in all day if he could.  Just a fantastic device.

So with that, good luck Jimmy.  Lookin forward to having you back on the list.

And thanks again Dan.

All,
I just wanted to give you all a heads up that Jim Masal (Founder of the Quickie Builders Association) has been in the ICU for several days.  He was taken to the hospital with a low heart rate, after collapsing at home.  They had to wait several days for some of his blood thinners to leave his system, so that they could perform surgery.  But, today they successfully installed a pacemaker that should take care of the heart problem.  He is expected to remain in the ICU for at least the next 48 hours under heavy sedation, and then move to the step down unit before hopefully going back home.

Mary has been sending me daily updates, and it sounds like the situation is much improved.  At any rate, Mary hasn't given me specific permission to tell everyone, but my hope is that you all will keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone,
