Chapter for Elevator Install/Removal?

Here you go Richard 15 up 17 down as you suspected. Guess I have a little extra down. Cheers, Jay Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE DROID Richard Thomson <richard@...> wrote: Thanks Jay, that's a great compendium. Didn't see any set up angles noted in there in the LS1, even

Sorry Richard, I intended to check my full sized template pages that contains the original rigging template. I will try to do that this week. I have been very distracted lately. My mother is in declining health and I have been trying to balance her care that with my work, so other things get forgotten.
Cheers, Jay

Mike and Jay - THANK YOU for this information. I look forward to reading through it and understanding more of how to proceed. Much appreciated.

Thanks Mike. I incorporated Sam’s very nice treatment on building the LS1 canard in my version also. I wanted to make sure I preserved that, since he put a lot of work into the documentation.
Cheers, Jay

So you have the GU canard so you probably want the Q2 plans. The Q200 elevator setup is different. With the Q200 I disconnect both inside elevator torque tubes. Then I partially (keep somewhat in so that the bolt catches the AL spacer) pull a bolt on the outside near the wing root on both sides and push one torque tube into first say the right wing and pull the left torque tube about 2" until the left elevator separates from the elevator. Then I rotate the left elevator down and slide toward the fuselage and it drops out of the wing. The fun part is if the aluminum spacer gets frozen to the steel torque tube. Watch that the center pivot doesn't pop out of the pressed in aluminum bracket. I know, clear as mud. The plans show how to build it, not how to take it apart! Typically the brake lines are a Nylaflow tube that is built into the slot core. But if your lucky it might be visible in the slot core. Either way I took a spare piece of my 35 year old nylaflow and hit it with a hammer as I've heard it gets brittle. The stuff was as good as new. Maybe heat makes it brittle? Anyway I bought all I needed off eBay last year and am debating whether or not to try installing it. Before I go lurking through all the chapters in the Q200 plans, does anyone happen to just know which one has the elevator install instructions? I would like to remove the elevator fairly soon and run wiring and/or replace brake lines soon. |

I think I have indexed the chapters, if you click on the one you want.
